I'm interested to know what others collections are doing. I was lucky enough to start collecting Biantes when the first XY was released. I then continued to purchase every release up until about 6 months ago.
Then I realised that space and money were running out fast. Time had come to cull the collection. I have been selling off some of the early XYs of late and have decided to stick with Holden/Brock/HRT and some of the specials such as the twin mirror , Black monaro etc.
In the early days , Biante was an unknown quantity , and I don't think anyone could have imagined it would have grown as it did.
I purchased whatever they made - Fords included.
My wife often asks , when I'm such a one-eyed Holden nut , why I have collected so many Fords. It seemed like a good idea at the time I say.
The Moffat and Johnson cars may be on the chopping block next.
Keep your eyes on the buy/swap/sell.
Yeah i am fairly similar, i have culled mine to all Bathurst winners, all Brockies and all of Skaifey's championship cars and that is still going to be alot of cars and bunches of flowers to my better half. ANDO

XU1, might be interested in some of your earlier Moffat cars down the track if you want to sell them. Gotta pay rates first but...
I've got the XB Championship car, and the XD so far....
See what happens!
Reckon it's a fair bet you'll have one, possibly more Red cars to add to your collection by the end of the year!!

....more red cars...I was kinda hoping they would change colours this year. Thats the only problem sticking with HRT , the cabinet is dominated by red (uncle Tom's shade of red that is).
I'll let you know re the Moff cars when the time comes.

My collection started out solely with Brock, Holden, HDT, HSV & HRT, but now includes most of the Moffat and Johnson collections and some Ford road cars (I never thought I'd see the day I had a Ford amongst my collection). My main theme now is the Racing Legends and Muscle cars, which have become Icons in our Country. With Bathurst being the Pinnacle of motorsport for me and many others each year, I look forward to being able to add yet another victorious car of "The Mountain" in my collection be it Holden or Ford. The Battle of these two Aussie Manufacturers has been great so far and let's hope it continues long into the future for our kids and their kids to enjoy as we have. Judging by most people I have talked to, the Bathurst cars are the most wanted and the most prized cars in our collections. I also enjoy the World Championship Motorcycle racing in which us Aussies have continued to do well in, and any Doohan, Gardner, Bayliss or Corser models are also most welcome amongst my expanding collection. I live for the day that I finish turning my garage into my motorsport room and finally display all these motoring legends. :D

i dont have a theme. i collect freely. i reckon the collection is better overall that way, to have a bit of everything.
i collect all 1:43. i think they're nice little things to have. and i collect selected 1:18s. i dont stick to any strict rule. if i like the model, i get it. if i dont', then i don't! :) i feel it's easier that way - you don't promise yourself to get a car just for the collection.
weird way of collecting i agree, but certainly makes my collection comprehensive.

For me it's any competition car that was derived directly from a road car. So I can save heaps and limit the size of my collection by not getting any of the V8 Supercars (silhouette racers really), or anything beyond the VN SS Group A. I'm planning to have at least one road-going version of a particular car, with at least one race version parked next to it. If I do expand beyond Aussie cars, I'm planning to stick to that theme of road-derived racers, including, believe it or not, the Porsche 917K which was sold at the 1969 Geneva show as a road car (£14000 list price!). Not a great idea, as the first customer to buy one found himself qualifying near the front at Le Mans and managed to kill himself......Too much car for the general public - shades of the Phase 4 scare?

I only collect the race version of cars (so far).
I like to get the Bathurst cars, "king of the mountain - brock" race cars and also going to get some of Moffat's race cars - love the cobra!
If I like a particular livery (Holden before F#$d though) I will get that too or if a Holden wins the championship I will get that car, if I don't have it in Bathurst livery (otherwise I will need another job to collect the ones I want).
I like to get the older cars before the new ones if I can help it.
happy collecting,
Cameron

I collect models of race cars that I like in 1/18 AND 1/43 scale.
I also collect models of NASCAR in 1/24 scale. The only street cars in 1/18 scale that I have are Kyosho's BMWs and NISSAN 300ZX. Beacuse of the space and budget limitations I don't buy every model in 1/18 scale. I usually buy one (two at most) single year liveries in 1/18 and then compliment it (them) with 1/43 scale versions.

I aim to get one model of each shape of the Fords such as the XW, XY, XA etc in standard strip and then one of the same shape in racing livery. So basically it's 2 models of each car, one racer one standard.
I don't want & can't afford each colour of every car. I didn't get the XW Phase 2 in Gold or Blue but I have it in Candy Apple Red and the Moffat 64e Bathurst car, so thats it for me for XW's
But then I like Bathurst winners or cars that are well known such as the Dick Johnson 'Rock' XD. So I've added a few Holdens in there as well.

I started off collecting road cars, no perticular type just if I liked it I would get it. Then I got a Richard Petty nascar many years ago and that was it.
I only collect race cars now , F1 , Indy , Nascar , Sprint cars , etc.
sorry
How could I forget Aussie Race cars.
Biante (BROCK,MOFFAT,DJR, ETC) also Trax,CC. in 1/43.
