once a day i go to ebay and do an advanced search with the 3 following request;


completed items , diecast cars
completed items, sports memorabillia
completed items , car partsall the ones with green i keep a tab of takes about 10 min per day.
if i am lazy and do it weekly takes about 1 hour.

on top of that i am in close alliance with a model shop and he record weekly sales for me

that is all,
note i record 1/43 cars as well

As to why, yep you are correct in the sence that a years worth of info gives you a good indication...(a true representation of worth need to use a line of best fit, producing a gradient in which goes someways giving the best answer. A cheap & nasty approach is how sometimes I ask you the low/high & number of sales)

As for the last 5, using my warped logic, I think its a good snap shot without going overboard (ie 10 or 20 sales) to get an appreciation (or make assumptions) of what is driving prices, to help get a better appreciation of what is fair & reasonable price when selling or buying a model in the immediate future.

Using the Moffat Capri ,there appears to be a nice steady demand without people having to pay big. Whereas the 75 winner its seems to flactuate too much and may not be such a "hot" car with interest/demand fluctuating from "hot to cold". So with the 75 a bit of patience and not rushing in, a bargain can be scored.

Of course there is the fact of how many are on ebay at the same time and the time between sales, so I just assume one a week occuring over a 4 to 6 week period (a sale a week roughly).

Thats what i thought as well, main driver in my view was the low cert number, which is quite silly. Numbers of significance ie 77, 351, 1977, 0012 etc should fetch a higher price as they are more fitting with the model

I'm lost for words that the 2 Johnson cars fetched those prices & are still up there (Red Roo a bit off, but still a fair effort to command $350 which a 81 Bathurst winner can be had for).

Indications (based on these results) would be that the recent DJ ATCC winner has a bright future as a desirable collectable!

Has the first release "Greens Tuff" really gone off the boil in terms of popularity, were it is now being superseeded by these more limited releases?

“I knew I just had to have it,” Mr Kahn told the Daily Mail. “I have spent years chasing it. I cannot believe I’ve finally got it. I am privileged to have acquired such a prestigious plate. It’s every man’s dream to have his perfect car with a number plate like this.”
The previous record for a plate was $AUD738,000 for “M1″ at an auction by an anonymous bidder. But even this plate didn’t attract attention like Mr Kahn’s “F1″.
Apparently “F1″ caught the eye of Eddie Irvine and Bernie Ecclestone when it went up for auction at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in April 2005 but it remained unsold because the reserve price was not met.

Just out of couriosity we have had 36 record sales in 2010 ( all still standing)

the year with the most record sales is 2006 with 86 records sill standing

the most records still standing come from

Sept 2006 22 ( this is not a surprise)

The 36 models are not new models, all models released prior to Feb 2010. the biggest contributor to this are the road going Monaros

Record sale is the twin Mirror white car at $2551 in Feb 2010

Models are as low but there seems sign of improvement
2008 was the lowest

Ive got the CC version. Great detail but little things on the Biante version tickle my fancy eg bonnet straps and black circles behind the numbers which are lacking on the former. It is on the wait list as there are too many new releases which get priority. Unless I see one for 99 bucks of course.
