This is actually concerns ALL 1/18 scale diecast makers not just Biante. Most of the models come with plastic base, but in a window-style box. I have to say that I like VT/VX plastic base. So, how about adding an Acryllic top and dispensing with plastic film on the box altogether. I don't think that such change would drive the price of a model into prohibitive territory. After all, the 1/43 amd 1/64 scale model already come with individual display cases standard. For one reason or another, a significant percentage of collectors cannot afford an elaborate display cabinets. Here in the US one can buy a decent display case for around $7US at RETAIL sore. So, here is what I have in mind:

So, what do fellow collectors have to say?

Great suggestion Sergey, lets see if the thread gathers any momentum, even for a couple of bucks extra its a great way to display them, not sure how the larger version of the 1:64 acyllic version display cases would hold up under australian postal services though especially in 1:18 size.

This sounds like a good idea if you do not have a display cabinet but if the price goes up due to the acrylic case then why should those who have a display cabinet pay the extra dollars?

If its the same price then sweet but I know I would not like to pay the extra dollars for the acrylic case. Also not all cars come out with a window face, eg. Some of the Brock/Moffat/HRT cars.

We have done this over 18 months ago with the Peter Brock LJ Torana.
It took an extra three quarters of a container to ship the same quantity of cars as we could only fit 4 per box and the box was bigger than a 6 car box and then when they got here, the cost to ship by road freight was 33% more and quite a few were smashed due to ham fisted handling.
The whole exercise cost around an extra $47,000 for 6000 cars, plus our cost price for the cabinets as well.
So we have since offered shops and collectors a ripper 1:18th cabinet that clips over the black platform of all Autoart models and the more you buy (up to 12) the cheaper they get.

Well, if it's not feasable than it's not feasible. I actually prefer to put models into individual display cases than stack them in the the regular "books" cabinets. The custom-made display cabintes (the ones that actually keep the dust out) are too expensive, and if one doesn't own a his/her residence can be pain to move.
However, if acryllic clear plastic cover is out of the question, how about putting all the models in styrofoam packaging. This is by far more secure and convenient (unscrewing and screwing back the model is a major chore by itself) than window style boxes.

Sergey

Get rid of window face boxes all together, the best quality box for transport and long term storage without fear of damage from UV is the sealed box with poly inserts. (HRT Corporate, Minichamps special editions)

The graphic packages on the packaging are better and allow for more scope and the model is safe.

Just my thoughts

Admin,

Can these be ordered on the site and if so, what is the product number. I can't seem to find them.

I collect the Moffatt, Brock, Johnson, Bathurst Winners and Lowndes cars, are there any of these that the cabinet will not fit?

Secondly, for the Moffatt cars in the enclosed packaging, can I purchase a base and attach the cars like the window box bases. (i.e. slightly raised so wheels are not on the base.)

Thanks.

Item numbers are A90001 for singles, A90002 for 6 packs and A90003 for 12 packs. ALL come with a black base as well, so that you can put any car in there.
Unfortunately, we are selling them faster than we can make them, but we mostly always advise when a shipment is coming in.
Item A90024 holds 4 x 1:18ths and is a ripper cabinet for small collections or themes.
