Just after some opinions on tyres. We're taking the kids up to Qld soon for 3 weeks & will need tyres on the EF before we go. It's been a LONG time since I bought anything other than Van tyres so any advice would be appreciated.
The EF currently has Yokohama 215/65/15's on. They're good in the wet but I'm not that impressed with their dry road grip. We went straight from our EA wagon to the EF wagon & I noticed more understeer on the EF straight away. The EA was on Remington 225/65/14's & they were really good all-round tyres but they are now about the same price as "Brand-Name" tyres so I'm thinking along the lines of Dunlop, Goodyear, Bridgestone & maybe Michelin (of which I've had GREAT experience with previously) or Pirelli. All the above make 205-215/65/15's for around the $100-00 mark, Michelin & Pirelli for about $120-00/$130-00. Any thoughts?

My Uncle is a tyre retailer in Sydney. He put me on to TOYO F4. They Proved to be durable 50,000km+, with good roadhandling in both dry & wet weather.
I haven't bought any tyres lately but I'm leaning toward Cooper for my Triton & am yet to decide what I'll place on the Daihatsu

in relation to your tyres
mate i would go with bridgestones in 215 65 15 there a good all round tyre weather you go for expensive or the cheeper bridgys
if you rotate and do your alignment around the five thou mark you should get somewhere from 50 to 100 thou out of em

In HQ we had to run these Bridgies, and we scrubbed them down from new to 2.5 mm tread , they did last 2 meetings or about 50 laps.
once the tyre was more than 3 mnds old they went hard from the cycling and a new set was done, a new set was always on rims with the full tread depht as rain tyres.tyre preasure for these was aprox 45 psi. Play arround with the tyepressure and the loading of the car, some people drive arround with 300kg of tools etc in the boot and still think that the handling is not affected.
the suspension of a car also need to be in good condition, not just the tyres.
Buy the best if you can as it might pay off one day.

Thanks, guys, will look around. Toyos, Ken. I'd forgotten them. I used to run Toyo "Z"s on my Falcon PVan, big mothers, 235/60/14's. Got 70 000 plus out've them, but they were $200-00 back in'87!

EF Falcons came out on 205/65R15 tyres.
If you want to go wider than the profile needs to decrease so that you have the same rolling diameter.
Go for a 215/60R15 of 225/60R 15 tyre my personal opinion would be Bridgestone G grid or Yokohama a539.;)

The last Toyo F4's I bought a few years back were $120

Steve, I ran a Falken ZIEX tyre on my EL (when I had it) & they were pretty good.

I did go up a size to 215/60/15 & they were a good wet & dry tyre. Pretty quite, with good performance holding (I had a lowered susp. at the time), a lot quiter than the Dunlops I was running & they were not dear.

I think I got them for something like $110ea (trade price) two years ago & when i got rid of the car I'd done 30k on them & they were about 2/3 worn (about 20k more left in them legally)

cheers. :)
