Well i have finally obtained my first CMC model.

It is of the Transporter above and wow what a model it is.

I have admired this marvellous truck for some time now and decided i needed it in my collection.

I have not yet purchased a racecar for the flatbed of the truck as i need to save some more pennies.....

The model itself is very large in this scale and weighs over 3kg. The loading ramps are functional and tie on to the deck when not in use with leather and metal buckles. The ramps themselves are stainless steel. Also the engine cover removes behind the cab to reveal the engine (out of a 300 SL no less!!) which propelled the real truck at speeds of up to 105mph with race car!.

Even the side windows slide along and the interior is something else.

I shall try and attach a picture of the truck with race car in place. The truck comes with the tie-down racecar turnbuckles to secure the racecar to the truck. Just like the real thing.

A truly impressive model and worthy of your inspection. The model also comes in 1:43 scale by CMC.

Cheers,

Timbo.

I have been thinking about obtaining a CMC model for quite a while and have been eyeing off this model in UK magazines. I am yet to see one in the flesh here in Victoria however.

Thanks for that Timbo.

The 1:12 SLR Mercedes looks amazing, I guess it costs a heap though.

Hi Wayno....

Yes they are fabulous models indeed.

Keep your eyes on e-bay as every so often they appear for a very good price! One of the better sellers is in OZ. The silver arrows and the W196R which has just come out are simply sensational. It is one of these which i will get for the truck......eventually.

Good Huntin'......

I have the 1/43 scale version, but in resin that was made a fair while ago in UK ,made by Vroom PLmodels.
I did get a brumm Mercedes rw196 as a racecar.
I have eyed this same on e at Stanbridges as well, but all the other transporters that I have are in 1/43.
Well done and good to see that it found a good home:)

Timbo and wayno,

check this out.....
http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=7313&item=6927888588&rd=1&ssPageName=WDVW
This is a great offer...the price is even cheaper than in germany....ordered mine already;) you won't get that car cheaper.
I got a couple of cmc models,both auto-union,w154, w196, w165, w125 and soon the w196r.
They are the peak of my collection.
Fortunately they will produce italian pre-war racecars ...most likely alfa's and ferrari's...can't wait.
cheers Marty

Look out for the Revival brand, in Italian prewar models.
Also there are 3 models made a Looong time ago by Polistill 1/16 scale namely a Mercedes RW196, a Maserati F250 &Ferrari F2 500, but be prepared to fork out Da Mulla for these ones.

I wish people would stop posting links that take me directly to e-bay. That's a great price for that car but unfortunately I have to pass.
I start my seven weeks holidays on Oct 3rd and I need to save every cent for that (after my kids bled me dry at Sandown!). I hope this guy is still selling them at the end of November because I'll be on one then for sure.
Once again thanks for the link.

sorry wayno.....:(

ferrarifan
doesn't have ferrari special model editions for ferrari owners only? I think there were a couple of prewar models made too in a pretty big scale(1:16,1:20?)....unfortunately very pricy and unless you know a ferrari owner who isn't interested in the models it's hard to get one..(or two...or three....)

Yes , I do have the 312T2 1976 scale 1/6! made specialy for the Championship win by N. Lauda ,by Toschi, comes complete with a bottle of Toschi.
Toshi started this with the1/6 scale F2 500 1952 Ascari World championship winning car, I do not have that one (as yet)
A bugger to display correctly due to the huge space it takes.
There have been a fair few more issued by the different Ferrari owners clubs arround the world over time.

Thanks for the link SmartyMarty.

Yes this is the same seller whom i got the Transporter off. Very good prices on CMC. I have the e-bay e-mail thing which tells me when new items are listed for CMC and other brands i keep my eye on. I will eventually get one of these cars for the flatbed, but not at the moment. I might go for the Monoposto W196 like the one in the photo i posted earlier in this thread, though without the racing number as they have all sold out!!

Thanks for thinking of me....:)

If you have yet to see these models in the flesh....do yourself a favour. They are simply magnificent.

The McLaren SLR in 1:12 scale sells for around US$2,000-$2,200 depending on what colour you want!! Maximus are you getting one....

Cheers,

Timbo.

Timbo that looks fantastic. I was trying to talk myself out of one of these, but after seeing how good that looks I might have to reconsider!

:D ......Wayno, my pathetic photo does not do it justice. I recommend that you visit the CMC models site to have a good look at it. The transporter is a work of art with the stainless steel ramps, leather tie ons and metal turnbuckles for the race car.

Even the windows in the cab of the truck slide back and forth.....

The Engine compartment lifts of too...! The box even has a silk cleaning cloth in it. I kid you not. tweezers too.....etc...etc.

Good luck old son.....
