We are now only a few months away from the release of the new BA Falcon and hence the BA racecars, but Biante still have not released any AU XR road cars. Are we going to get any??? Not wanting to bring up the old how many Holdens vs Fords. The AU is now 4 years old and all we have seen are the Race Cars (and very few of them compared to the Commodores)The new Monaro and VT/VX Commodores have been made in droves.Look at those XR's we have missed out on, the 1st XR8's with bi-spoiler and the XR8 Cobra complete with all the markings.
Come on Biante tell us Ford People once and for all what your intentions are or are we going to see the same 70/30 split in models ,in favour of Holden again.

I'm not a GM or Ford fan, as in real life I prefer reliable "rice burners". However, I guess it's the case of quantity vs. quality.
Holden fans get more Commodores, while Fords get a few, but superior quality ones. I'm joking of course, it's quite surprising that no recent street Fords have made a "diecast" appearance.

Dave, this is another quote from admin from the 'Last of the XY' thread.

Just to help get it back on track, we have today started work on the new Commodore and, finally, we have made contact with a very switched on lady at Ford Australia who realises, like all the Ford Dealers, Race teams, and collectors, that we need to have road going models of the Falcon range, and looks like we will be starting on the AU replacement soon for race cars and road going models.

I can't remember if you were on the forums back then so maybe you missed it.

By the way, what is the AU XR8 Cobra?. I have not heard of any official Ford release of this car.

They were done in the tradition of the original Cobra's, complete with striping and the Cobra Decals on the Front Guards, other options were headlight covers c/w Cobra Decals. I have seen 2 in person over here in NZ and had the privalage of driving one. It was a rep's car and he uses it as a company car. It is an auto and he had re-chipped it and to be honest with you I thought that my own EB II Fairmont had better get up and go and better response than the XR8 Cobra, with the only difference being that the XR8 would have greater top end. But by saying that my EB is not stock standard.

Anybody else got any info!!

I work for Ford Australia in Geelong and I have never heard of an XR8 Cobra let alone one painted in the trditional Cobra colours. It must be a NZ thing.

Gentleman,Gentleman,
I have a theory on the situation on the production of Ford diecast models. You see when a new model is thought of, the producer has to get a license to produce the model fom Ford in Detroit ,so the channels of reply are slow. Where as GMH models are granted quicker because it is licensed here in Australia. So dont dispair patience is a virtue!

Hi dave you say in your thread that holden get a 70/30 split thats only true in v8 supercars if you go back and look to all the xw,s xy,s xb,s xc,s xd,s xe,s and throw in all moffats goss and johnsons im sure you will find they outway the lj and lh,lx toranas buy a big margin in terms of colour and numbers so i think it evens itself out over a period of time but i wouldnt mind a xr8 either to add to my collection and a few more early holdens of course.

Yes Drot,

How long did it take them to produce Holdens. There were plenty of F...s done before that.

Sounds right Scottt. Some Holden dealers here in Melbourne did up some VS Commodores as 'SLR5000' special editions.

Get a standard V8 VS, throw on a set of wheels and some stickers and there you go, an SLR5000.

Scott, the local ford dealer near me had an AU XR done up like a cobra. I guess someone picked up a white falcon and put some blue cobra like stripes on it. You see the odd silver Falcon with Lowndes type stickers on them as well.

The Mrs and I looked at this thing and almost threw up, it looked that bad. The car was sitting in the lot for quite a while as well.

I guess it does wonders to the re-sale value on a car as well.

i saw a monaro gts the other day, like the cobras, it had traditional monaro paint job and badges on a standard monaro, it was yellow with the black stripes up the bonnet on the passenger side. i thought it was shame to the original monaro name. also on the topic of ugly cars, i saw a VT converted into a dual cab ute. sounds fine, get a wagon and cut the roof off. but nooooo, he had to be different, he got a sedan, cut the boot off and stuck a tray in its place leaving the curved roof line and windows and all!!!!!!!!! anyone else round perth seen this monstrosity and maby got a snapshot of it to post? ive seen it a couple of times now around gateway shopping centre.
