For the second week in a row qualifying was rained out, so the line-up will be as per championship positions.

Hopefully the weather will hold for both the Busch and Cup races, as I believe Michigan provides some of the fastest, multi-lane racing of the series, with heaps of passing, as proven previously not only in stock cars, but also in the various open-wheel categories that have raced here.

There also always seem to be a really close finish, with sometimes two or three cars side by side as they make the final lunge for the line.

Can you tell it's one of my favourite tracks?!? ;)

At least you can pass on this track. Its not won solely based on pit strategy & staying out of trouble:)

Things are really getting interesting now.

Third crap finish (engine failure again) for Jimmie Johnson in a row means he now slips to second behind team-mate/boss/owner Jeff Gordon, but is still safe in the top ten, and Gordon is the only one that is mathematically assured a spot whatever happens from now on.

The competition at the other end of the top ten is really hotting up though, with Kasey Kahne now taking his turn in the last transfer spot at the expense of team-mate Mayfield.

Ryan Newman now down to 13th, with only 70 points between 10th and 15th positions.

Now for another highlight of the season - the bump-and-run and crash-and-bash night race at Bristol!

And speaking of Jeremy Mayfield - can they give us subtitles when they interview him? Last time I saw him being interviewed my nine-year-old daughter looked up at the TV and said 'that's Boomhauer' (from King of the Hill).

I like it!!! Always thought Jez was good value wityh his Elvis type laid back drawll!!!
Good race, especially for the Ford fans. Bad luck as usual for Martin, but should he make the top 10 (and I think he will) then he'll really shake things up.
Now for Bristol night racing, and live on an Aussie Sunday morning no less!

Enjoyed the race immensely despite the cautions. Thought Martin did a hell of a job and I hope he makes the top ten as I feel he will really shake things up (agree with you on that Goodwrench3, that thing looks scary doesn't it?).
Johnson had another engine failure which I don't think is that big an issue. Gordon also said his engine wasn't right for the last 60 or so laps so I'm wondering if these guys are just using these races as a test before things get serious.
McMurray did himself some good with his finish and I must admit I love watching Kahne run high here.
The guy I was wrapt for was Scott Riggs. That team has had a troubled run this year and to see him look so racy for so long in this race did my heart good.
As usual, can't wait for the next one!

Being a Ford boy, I was totally stoked at the 1-2-3 and Busch in 6th and Kenseth 8th.I felt happy for Greg Biffle and a little disappointed for Mark Martin but he was happy with the points haul Im sure.Dale Jarrett did really well again and I am hoping Martin and DJ can make 'The Ten'.I was shocked to see Jimmie Johnson retire for a third straight race and they have some work to do to make their cars reliable so they can give the Chase their best crack. They will still have to be favourites though.I think Bobby Labonte will drop out and we will see somebody else go in.I can't wait for Bristol and the night bash n crash.
