I'm in no rush..... Mine's going under the tree. I've had way too many toys lately so I told the missus to put it under the tree before I get a peak.. Its been years now so another month wont seem very long. (Yeah, right)
mine hasn't even been sent yet :( still says it's an unsent order? I ordered mine near the end of the online order process before it closed. So does that mean it will be a while before mines sent?

Odin, I put my order in before Benn's (The guy at work) and his has gone through but mine os still waiting.
I used his credit card and had to send a fax confirming his details a few weeks ago so thats probally why.
Soon as he gets his in here at work, they are sending it here, I will take pics & post them here.

Just un-wrapped mine.
WOW again. Very impressed. Its my new pride and joy!
Awesome detail in engine bay, interior and everywhere.
Doesnt look quite complete without missingdecals.
That will be fixed soon.
Shame the bonnet doesnt stay open to show off the detail but stiff!
GOOD WORK Biante and everyone involved. :D

If & when they are released by Biante they better be really good as we have been waiting ages.

Yes i would agree with you there. And i think its sitting too high. I have seen the real car and its much lower. And the Hardie Ferodo decal looks wrong on the model compared to the real car.
But everyone has there own opinion and these are mine. But its a great model one i have been waiting for for years

What a joke, on ebay already, didn't think it would take too long for one to appear. I can't believe there is 7 bids for it. The four people that have bid for it already should be ashamed of themselves for encouraging these obviously non enthusiasts to sell them.

Some people unfortunently enough didn't get one (Like myself :( ), so eBay is the place to go. It is a shame though people are putting them on, with the sole purpose of making money out of them.

$510.00 on ebay already!! Should have bought the other two Triking had on
Tuesday.
The signature on my A9X (#0446) is signed "Pete Brock" the "r" in Peter has been clearly
left off.
Does Peter sometimes sign Pete instead of Peter? Or is this one that Bev signed? She told me
once that she does Peter's signature as good as he does!! Everything else I have signed by
Brocky has "Peter".
Does this make mine more valuable if it has a rare signature? Maybe I should put it on Ebay
for $1000.00.

$550 now and the second one sitting at $280, it is rediculous to say the least these prices on an auction with six days to go will not be the norm. I reckon when the dust settles a more realistic long term price will be around $300 to $350 and the high bidders on these panic auctions will regret it.

Poor Brocky must get some serious writers cramp after signing 7000 odd certificates. It never ceases to amaze me how he can sign for hours on end and still make it legable. One cheque and mine is unreadable!!!
I'm sure glad I managed to get hold of one of the models, it's definitely the best model I have so far. Can't wait for the 79 A9X.

Well I hope you guys can tell me what do????? I am the one that currently holds the bid on ebay for the 2nd Brock A9X. I am new at this model car collecting and I thought you would be able to purchase this item from the Biante website just like the other models they have there. Well you wouldnt believe the shock when I saw that they were all sold out, and that you had pre order them through Biante stockists. And do you really think I want to pay $500 plus for them, NO WAY but how the hell I am goin to get one. What it comes down to is that I have no choice.
I have emailed at least 20 Biante stockists across the country and half have replied with no chance of being able to get one.
So back to my 1st question, "What do you guys think I should??"

What do you call the REAL car???
Bowdens is the actual car, but many things are wrong on it...so don't use it as your basis...
e.g. the placement of the Bathurst 1000 decals is closer on the Biante model than Bowdens resto, the numbers on the doors of Bowden's are just wrong etc etc
As with other models, leave it on the shelf for a few months and watch the suspension sag... :p
I agree the front flare's seem a little small, but I haven't seen a model yet that is perfect (although some would have you believe they exist...)

But its a great model one i have been waiting for for years heres mine the rear rims and tyres are 2 small(ie) dia and width especially..also i noticed also on the bill paterson no 25 the exhaust pipes.in photos appear 2 exit the passenger side of the car.....the width of the tyres on these older group c cars was much bigger than the tyres used on the current group a cars lets hope the wheels on the vc vh vk range are bigger because they have humongous flares to fill..... just my opinion....some may agree some may disagree.......

Did you ask about reserve lists on the off chance somebody cancels?
I know the model shop I order from has 40-50 orders for 30 models, but I've discussed the list with the owner and he hasn't seen 10 of the people since they ordered (over 12 months ago). He will honour the orders, but only if they answer the phone in the first few days, and pick up within a week...

Mate, what do YOU call the real car???
The decals on the door are incorrect, but they are as placed by Jim Shepherd, who worked for HDT during the A9X era and restored the car in the early 80's.
Unless you know something we don't, the car hasn't been restored by any members from my family  . Actually, unless you're visually impaired, I have no IDEA how you could come to the conclusion the car has been restored by anyone in the last 20 years.
Seeing as you seem to know things we don't. What are the other "many things" incorrect on our 78 car?? Please enlighten us.
Cheers, Chris Bowden.
PS. I too wouldn't bother using the REAL car as a basis of comparison, as it may irk you that your 1:18th is, well, different :p

Touchy aren't we...
You say the numbers were placed on the door in the 80's...can I ask WHY?
I know that YOU know...so please share...I'm not going to steal your thunder...
Did I ever say that YOU had the resto done? I said Bowden's Resto, meaning the car you have has been changed...And please point out where I said WHEN the resto was done...
The car you have IS NOT AS RACED in 1978...although many think that it is...
I was just pointing this out...
and to quote you

I can only make this assumption, but it seems that when people spend their hard earned $$$ on a model, come to look at the 1:1, they get the 'tom-tits' when they are not exact and decide having a crack at the silly bugger who owns the original about the fuel filler, or diff cooler, is a good way to save face/ re-coup their losses/ vent some steam.
Is it not implied by those statements that your car is perfect?
What irks me even more is people that misinform, deliberate or otherwise.
Your car is wrong!
The model is wrong!
Live with it!
And good to see how predictable you are...

At least be thankful that the car has been produced with space to put proper decals on it. IXO cleverly put subaru decals where the car ran w/ 555 decals...This is clearly wrong........now ride height is something noticed by ppl who have to much time on their hands and need to complain about something. my 2 cents- be thankful you have a car. Would you rather no car, you seem to buy it regardless so whats the deal? are you sending it back cause its faulty if it mattered that much you wouyldn't buy it and leave it to ppl who want the car. Its not a replica, its a scale model....

Sheesh, if you dont like the car, sell it to someone who will be happy with it. How does it feel to have a car at cost and whine about it when there are people who will be forking out $500.00 for one. Geez, when I get to see mine, I reckon I'm going to love it. And you know what? When my friends see it they'll say " thats sweet" not "ride height is outta whack and the stickers wrong". Then again, that may have more to say about the people I asociate with more than the car.
Ahhh, thats better....:)

Idem Ditto, I would like 2 more but only to show the different decals.
But the next one ,if I get it from the Holden dealer closeby, will go to Biante 15000,If he wants it.
enclosed a picture of my one with it's friends, modified the offending decals as so to post it here.
To see the unmodified one go to my website and click on "Hints" or visit Ebay and search under "decals,Torana,Brock" etc,
Is NOT listed with the word of the maker "Biante"

Teambock 50, I don't know where you heard or got this info from, but I can guarantee that is wrong. I was in the shop this morning and know all the staff well. Out of their original order......which in fact they received the whole number.......they only had about 6 or 8 left that weren't on pre-order and these were all on the shelf for sale this morning

Got my A9X this morning from Shire's, looks O.K.
apart from the offending stickers. which thanks to FF will be fixed soon.
Some guy was at Shire getting a whole heap of them, I think for a club ?.
It's a piece of motor racing history and thankful thank Biante went through the trouble to make this model.
And those who want to pick it cause of this and that, sell it to someone who will enjoy the car and get a life.
If it wasn't for Trev, Bev and the hard working crew involved in this project all we would have would be code 3 A9X's not the real McCoy.
And FF for doing his bit in helping the collectors too.
Cheers to all those above.
Thanks for your time.;)

Did anyone notice that the COA num was written on the tissue paper covering the box? perhaps Biante are tracking these models ,hopefully to stem the tide of the profitiers on the popular new releases:eek: one can only hope so.:D (by the way the numbers were the same 391)

Yes I did. I thought I was quite strange to get COA 1865 when most of the others that were ordered from the Website were quite low. I'm not complaining though, as I have one. There are plenty out there who weren't so lucky

Raceplace in Seaford received their stock Friday, I would assume other Melbourne stores have received theirs Friday or will receive them Monday..

Depends on the store...
Historically, some receive tham within a week of release in WA...others can be up to 3 weeks (I know Games World Fountain Gate are usually in the later selection...thier courier sits on their order until it is sizeable enough to bother delivering to the store...)

This may read a bit odd, but I have replied under each paragraph;[QUOTE]Originally posted by lcfp2297

Yes. I am a bit passionate about certain cars.
You say the numbers were placed on the door in the 80's...can I ask WHY?
Of course you can! Check out http://www.bowdensown.com/cars/brocka9x.html and you can read why. We have been trying to hide this secret on our website for quite a while now. (4 years?)
I know that YOU know...so please share...I'm not going to steal your thunder...
Thanks.
Did I ever say that YOU had the resto done? I said Bowden's Resto, meaning the car you have has been changed...And please point out where I said WHEN the resto was done...
Are you serious?
The car you have IS NOT AS RACED in 1978...although many think that it is...
Yes. If you have read our site you would know the car was raced by John Harvey in 1979, so it has a few upgrades. Not quite as many as your model however. While we are on this topic, if your model was 1:1, do you think CAMS would have let it run in 1978?
I was just pointing this out...
and to quote you
Is it not implied by those statements that your car is perfect?
Yes, it is not implied.
What irks me even more is people that misinform, deliberate or otherwise.
What???
Your car is wrong!
True. But she is not far off the money.
The model is wrong!
True. Sorry guys, no further comments on this issue.
Live with it!
It's hard. But I will.
And good to see how predictable you are...
Thanks. Now go back and read your original post that got me "Touchy".
Done that? Good, now could you cut the the nonsense and tell us what else is wrong on our 78 "resto"?
Cheers, Chris.
PS. Mate, all of this is a hoot. That resto comment is TOOOOOOOO funny. But is not good for posterity.
We will be at the Melbourne Holden and Ford Show this weekend with the 78 "resto". PLEASE come along with your model and we can discuss this topic in a much more civilised manner. I promise to remain predictable at all times.

Bloody 2 Minute Edit Rule.
Did anyone else notice on the model that there is no fuel cap anywhere.
I have tried looking at photos of the real thing but I can only assume it is under the rear hatch.
If so, was this missed on purpose???
Richard Poole
15-11-2004, 09:42 AM
The fuel for the car was delivered through the filler behind the rear numberplate mounting panel. We spoke to several team members that worked on the car in 1978 and they all provided valuable information.

Watch the A9X video and you will see it is behind the rear number plate. Would be cool if it flipped down ;)

Just for your information...
Restoration noun something which has been returned to its original condition...
So please explain to me why, a car that was raced in 79, and then restored back to its 78-Bathurst-esque livery is not a restoration...
Maybe YOUR definition of restoration includes a full strip down? Not necessarily the case...
But if you really want to argue semantics...
On another note, you really like contradicting yourself, don't you...

So please, which is it?
I made comment on the numbers on the door, and with my obviously primitive comparison of the car that was at Bathurst 2004, Pictures of the same car at Bathurst 1978 and the model (and you can do most of these right here (http://www.bowdensown.com.au/cars/brocka9x.html)) . In this respect, the model is closest to the real thing way back in 1978...
...and I still can't see your problem with my first post...You have confirmed everything I said!
PS I'd love to have a chat with you, but am not going to that particular show this weekend...

The thing that upsets me with the 1977 Brock A9X is that there is no fuel filler. It would be pretty hard to do the fuel filler on the 78 and 79 models.

Well too bad if you think you are getting one from shire models
Monday 15th November: We have just returned from 5 days at the Bendigo Swap. The BROCK 1978 A9X TORANA arrived Friday 12th November in our absence and SOLD OUTwithin a few hours. Unknown to us someone put a notice on the Biante website stating that we had Brock models for sale on our website and we were inundated with orders. So many orders in fact that we will not be able to supply them all. We already had orders in place at the shop by our regular customers before the Biante notice was placed so in fairness to everyone the models will be allocated by date and time of order. We would like to say that we thank everyone for their patience but patience seems to be short and we have had extremely abusive people who could not have their order filled, not only the single order but multiple purchases....and we mean multiple, some people wanted 5, 7 & 9.
We will honour all orders placed prior to 11th November but it is doubtful that any orders placed on or after the 11th will be supplied but we are doing our best.
Why put them for sale on the website if the dont have any??

The Brock A9X has hit U.S. shores! I took delivery of 0095/7800 today.
Now I have to find a way to secure FF's decals without inflicting a HUGE fee from my local bank for the &%#$$ conversion. Is anyone with a PayPal account willing to run as a go-between? Of course, I'll cover any additional fees. It'll be better that what MY bank wants to charge.
If anyone can help me out, I'd appreciate it!

Pleaser do not bother ,just send me a self adressed envelope and a note with your name and I will send you one free of charge
I have listed plenty of decals and there no need to bid silly amounts, there was another one that reached $31 and I will send them 2 sets.
Ebay will not let me put my website on at all, so this is the only way to do it and is more expensive and labour intensive to administer, I have had the buy it now put in to stem this madness.

Bert,
Could you list the decals as a dutch auction? This allows one listing, but you can put in a quantity, say 100. Then the item stays on until 100 are gone...and every bid over $10 is a winner.
Never done it myself, but have been told it works well.

Been advised to not do it that way as it is a nightmare to administer.
With the extra work and fees to ebay I am not willing to list them on Ebay for $10,
On my website they will stay $10 cash or M.O and a selfadressed stamped envelope and stipulate which variety you want.

To FF, Chriso and Dingo -
Thanks so much for your offers. A big thanks to FF for the generous offer. I would take advantage of such generosity only in dire circumstances.
It appears that a stateside individual has monies in an Aussie bank and can handle the purchase, so everyone wins but the banks. Exchange fees be damned!
Thanks again, guys.

He wouldn't rip you off over $10, but maybe he does direct deposit.

Cheques for these small amounts are hard to administer in multiples(waiting to be cleared) and I do NOT give out my bank details.

Maximus,
It is in no way Bert that I have a problem with.
My problem is that I was going to get a few of these and firstly, putting cash in the mail is just plain asking for it and secondly, if a money order goes missing, it is an absolute sh#tfight to get it cancelled and replaced.
Hopefully there should be no problem with a direct deposit.
Let me know Bert.
Thanks.

No I do not accept cheques for small orders, Hobbyshops with orders over 10 are welcome, but the personal cheques are to hard to administer in bulk (clearing etc.)
I do NOT give out my bankaccount details full stop.
M.O. are VERY safe ,and so far nothing has gone missing.

Just a little item re the fact that a few decals are being sold by some others and they do not show the bonnet decals at all or VERY poorly, on one you can see that it is an appalling ripoff as they are not even close and will not be any good at all.
sadly a fair few collectors are being dissapointed on their purchase.
My Ebay moniker is bigbert9 and you can get them on ebay there but it is better, cheaper, to go to my website* on the bottom of this message, the black underlined bit.
