Ordynski’s crash, reported to be heavy but with both crew in a satisfactory condition, has cancelled the stage and the trailing drivers which include Pedder will be granted a derived stage time.

The accident occurred on the notoriously fast Watagan Road and early reports claim Ordynski ran wide 6.5 kilometres into the stage on a tightening corner, slammed into the outside bank and rolled. An FIV was dispatched to the scene of the accident, Ordynski taken by ambulance to a local hospital as a precaution while co-driver Iain Stewart is reported to be fine.

Early reports suggest that both Ordynski and Stewart were able to exit the vehicle without assistance, Stewart jogging up the road to wave down the next driver which just happened to be Scott Pedder.

YES the incar shot showed how extensive it was... and also showed why you would think the guys would also wear the new neck brace that the V8 guys are taking on.
But there certainly has been some nasty rollover crashes this month,,, certainly the worse would have to be Solbergs,,, that's one way to total a WRC subaru....

Missed RPM today due to trying to sleep for night shift tonight so will wait for the round hilites to see it. Glad both are ok. I love rallying and it is a tribute to the car builders skills that guys can walk away from prangs like these.

i've heard that the WRC drivers are to start wearing the neck braces, as per F1 to come in line w/ new FIA guidelines- that was a coupla months ago dont know whats happened since.....FIA backflip on so many issues that i wouldnt be surpirsed if this safety feature was scrapped. and i havent seen a worse looking subey since Burns in Finland 2000, even Makinen's tho spectacular was tame in comparison

Only caught the prang on the news but got both in-car shots. Pretty impressive prang, lost count of the rolls. Quite impressed that the co-drivers first words were:"are you alright?" not "s**t,what happened?":D

The thing I noticed after rewinding it a couple of times is Ian Stewart looses pace notes in the rolling but they manage to land in his hands after the car comes to a stop... :) sign of a very good navigator..:D

it was also on the news as well as rpm

the "highlights" will be Sunday coming up, I dont know what time it was but I think it'll fill the usual RPM timeslot of 3:30 as they saud they'll be off air the next few weeks due to motorsport coverage, and I know not next weekend but the one after its Sandown

The people who built and run the car agree with you there:-

Solberg's smash: the truth in figures
31 Aug, 13:45

Petter Solberg's Deutschland Rally may have been the biggest ever to involve a works Impreza.

Prodrive sources are not sure, as data-logging equipment in the past was not as efficient as the current system, but are awed by the figures. Solberg lost control on a fast left-hander 300 metres into SS12 and crashed nose-first into a Hinkelstein - one of Baumholder's anti-tank barriers - at 120 km/h. The first impact flipped the car over and was followed by another collision with a Hinkelstein, boot-first, then another, roof-first. In total, there were five impacts, in 5.7 seconds. The most severe was the third, at 27g.

Solberg and co-driver Phil Mills walked away from the wreckage and will be in action again this week on the Rally Japan. Although the rollcage was deformed, no bars or welds were broken.

so solberg has caused the impreza's biggest crash- who would've thought that McRae's record would be broken- hard to see anyone breaking as many cars as him tho :D
