Its just me again
Does anyone have the 1:18 HRT V8 Ultimate Sandown Mark Skaife Model? If so Can you tell me what the certificate of Authenticity says.
Also, has anyone got the 1:18 1990 Walkinshaw VL Grice/Percy Bathurt Winning Model, if so can you tell me what the certificat of authenticity says.
One last question, does anybody know if the 1990 Walkinshaw was the only one that ever won Bathurst?
Thanks so much

Skaife Sandown,
Red certificate same as Bathurst twin pack states that it is one of a limited production run of 1000, car is as raced at Sandown.
Can not help with the VL at this stage its in storage
Glenn
Thanks Aussie Collector,
Does it say anything about it being the winning car?

The cert 4 the VL reads as follows "This is to certify that this model of the 1990 Bathurst winning Group A 'SS' HRT commodore is one of 6000 produced.
Hope that helps

While we are on the subject of certificates, can anyone tell me what is mentioned on the certificate for the White XY GTHO of 900 pieces. I believe the c.o.a was signed by Trevor and were there any brochures for this car ? also do the single mirror versions differ at all to the other single mirrored versions at 4500 pieces?
Cheers, Jason

Jason as for the COA on the twin mirror it is signed by trevor Young, as for whats written as well im not sure still chasing that one up. As for differences between single and twin mirror cars the only difference is the extra mirror.
Hope that helps a little

Thanks Paul, but I'm really trying to find out about the 766 cars that are single mirrors amongst the 900 dealer display White XY's.
Whether they are exactly the same as the run of 4500 and if they also had c.o.a's signed by Trevor or just the 134 twin mirror ones? also I would like to know why there was a single and twin mirror version and why not all twin mirrors like the other road car colours? If admin or anyone can shed any light on this I would be most grateful.

Tim,
Iam not sure what you mean with regards to winning car, HRT did not win Sandown.
See Below (lifted from V8supercar.com.au) 2001 archive page
Sandown International Motor Raceway,
Round 13, 30/11/2001 - 02/12/2001
Todd Kelly managed to negotiate the wet conditions better than the rest today to take the overall honours in the final round of the Shell Championship Series.
Kelly steered his Kmart Holden to third in the first of three 150km races then followed it up with a convincing victory in the rain before playing it safe to take third in the final race and wrap up the round ahead of the Ford duo of Craig Lowndes and Marcos Ambrose.

Hope this helps

Reply to Donny05.
When the Red XY first model sold out in about 2 minutes, the stores had nothing to show the hordes of people who came in to have a look at the first diecast 1:18th Aussie car ever and of course there was nothing to show them as they had all gone.
I rang the factory and asked if we could have some more of the new colour (White) made as a "Store" model for showing to customers. The next car was the Moffat model, so the White one wasn't due for about 10 weeks.
They had a mix of spare Red body shells and Moffat body shells, so they rustled up 900 pieces and painted them White.
I made a Certificate here saying they were for Stores only and signed each Certificate to make sure they got the status of a Biante release (not just Red ones painted White by a third party). Keep in mind that I asked the stores not to sell them, or it defeated the purpose of making them in the first place, but!!!!
I don't know what is on the Certificate exactly as I never kept one for myself although I have got the factories only sample in the showroom for visitors to look at.
It never occured to me at the time that some would have two mirrors as it was quite frantic at that stage doing all the development for the next releases. Of course the bodyshells from the left over Red cars had 2 mirror holes and got 2 mirrors fitted and the new casting for the Moffat car only had one mirror hole as the model was changed to delete the left hand mirror on the race car. The cost to delete the indent on the passenger door to get rid of the mirror hole was such that we decided to leave the mirror off all future releases, which we did right up until the last 2 which once again had 2 mirrors.
The brochure for the White car was done when these arrived and I just happened to pick out a 2 mirror one to use for photographing..not knowing there were 2 sorts in the pile.
When the White car was released, we suddenly started getting phone calls saying "the brochures shows 2 mirrors and my model has only got one mirror".
I realised what had happened and rang the factory to see how many of the overrun Red shells there were and had been used. their records showed 135. They still had one sample in the head office display room (which I now have), so there are 134 out there with 2 mirrors.
Now you know.
As an add on....I have got every colour, as well as the Moffat and Goss car with 2 mirrors because we made all 13 samples before we launched the Red car in July 1998. So in total there are actually 136 of the two mirror White cars in existence, but only 134 with Certificates.

A very good read. Really nice to know what happened back then, as some of us started much later and had no idea.
Thanks Admin

Thanks Admin
You have finally put to rest the "Mystery"
Much Appreciated.
The White Twin Mirror COA Reads:
This is one of 900 "First Run" advance models of the Ultra White Ford Falcon XY GTHO produced exclusively for our distributors and corporate customers.
Personally Signed TR Young
Director
Biante Classics
I also heard a rumour that all this run of 900 XY GTHO's had either Gloss Black bonnet stripes and the run of 4500 had Matt Black bonnet stripes or vise- versa, they were different. Like I say I heard it as a rumour, I have not sited all 3 variants of the White XY together.
It would be good if someone could verify the matter about the stripes though.
PS
Hope I haven't confused anyone any more than they are already.

Thanks Gary,
I will have a look on Monday..I have the twin and a normal release sitting alongside each other in the showroom.
Whatever was on the twin mirror one will be the same as the single mirror one in the 900 run as they were all done at the same time.

It is also interesting to note that the first run were track white on the certificate and the second run were ultra white.

Thanks very much for the information Admin, it is great to know what happened and for whatever reason. I think it is excellent when you give us more insight into what goes on in your production of these great Aussie classics and I'm really looking forward to reading about the Brock VR (due soon I hope) in Australian Muscle Car magazine. The reason I am so interested is I want to add a White XY GTHO to my collection and was wondering which was the best one to get. Thanks once again and to all who replied.
Cheers, Jason :D

Stonee, you have got it back to front:
The 900 First Run Advance Run models were Ultra white and the 4500 were Track White....according to the certificates I have in front of me.
