I read on an old post (which I can't find) that someone had fitted Monaro Headlights and taillights to their VT. I was wondering how much a set of headlights for a monaro are worth and do the headlights fit straight in to the old spot? It looks like the Monaro headlights and the VT headlights are the same size...
thanks.

A mate of mine has a VX SS, he fitted Monaro tail lights,no mods were required, Not sure about the cost
When I went to the Adelaide 500 this year on the way to the track I saw a VT SS with Monaro tail lights.
Another story is with Team Monaro during the Targa Tasmania this year. After Stevey Richards smashed into some rocks team Monaro used thier spares car(2001 Brock/Brock Targa ute).
During the overnight rebuild the got a headlight of the spares VU SS ute and turned the VU SS headlight into a Monaro front light.
I'd really love to see a HSV VT2 GTS 300 with Monaro front lights and tail lights with the Monaro badges on the side and walla a 4 door Monaro.

i saw an ad in the trading post (vic.) or unique cars for a guy who did changeover lenses for s1/s11 vt, vx, monaro etc. i'll post again if i can find the info. oh, i assume you're referring to the actual car, not a 1:18/1:43!!

Yes, front and rear conversions can be done. Email me if you like and i'll organise some prices for you, its cheaper than you think.
VX owners will need a VT or Monaro front bar to complete the conversion. I can do these conversions if you in WA, or mail order the parts.
If you have an SS or any GEN III, there are a few other monaro parts that can be fitted to give you a small kw boost also (im talking 5kw for about $40). In fact, it quite easy to get 300kw out of the GEN III with simple bolt on mods, but more on that at a later date, on a different website...

Street Commodores magazine has an advertisement for American Autos who sell Monaro front and rear lights. Pricing as follows. I'd check with your local Holden shop to compare pricing as these seem a tad expensive.
92094524 V2 MONARO R/H HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY 322.30
92094525 V2 MONARO L/H HEADLAMP ASSEMBLY 322.30
92143481 V2 MONARO HEADLAMP PROTECTORS 84.95
LSM1004 SIDE INDICATOR LIGHTS VP-VX CLEAR 42.50

Thanks guys.
Wow $322 each! I can pass on that. Good to know that they fit straight in though.
I wouldn't mind doing the taillights as well but then I guess it will change the look of my Clubby alot - like SWRT said a 4 door monaro (ex VT SII Clubby) :) as mine already has the clear side indicator lights.
Cheers.

Checked with my mate fitted Monaro t/lights to VX SS, said trade price $100.00 per side which included globes & necessary wiring harness to couple up:)
Made some enquiries today (Saturday) to local Holden Spare Parts about purchasing Monaro items. Their answer was, without a Monaro V.I.N. you can't buy them. This has been setup similar to HSV parts. Factory faxed all Dealers, they must fill out log sheet for V.I.N before handing over parts.
Over the counter price for rear light was $123.85 each.

Must be a QLD thing I have brought the headlights for my VT company promo wagon this week $700.00 for the pair gst inclusive. Now all I have to do is hope they fit correctly.

Interesting,
My cousin is manager of the Holden Dealership at Tuggerah NSW(think thats how its spelt) spoke with him tonight. Same reply, no V.I.N. no parts.
Those lights look so "crisp and clean" compared to the VT, I have to get me some.

Cheers.

Sorry to bring up old threads, but has anyone done the conversion of the tailights/headlights from VT to Monaro?. I had to buy a car that had air conditioning to satisfy the wife and wouldn't mind making the car, (not the wife) a little bit different.

Hi Damian,
On my way home from Bathurst last year I saw a commodore with Monaro headlights and taillights and he said it was easy to do. It was a VX so the taillights would have been simple as they had no lights near th enumber plate like the vt. The only thing he said was something about the relay on the headlights are different to the standard car compared to the monaro lights...
Not sure if Glenn has done it yet?
I was going to do it but decided to keep it stock...no point changing the clubby..one day mayb?!

If you do make any changes to your Clubby make sure you keep all of the original parts.
I changed the exhaust system on my VS and when I traded it on a VT II - I got a better deal by putting the original parts back on the car.
Strangely enough they also wanted the original stereo back in the car.

Wow that's a first !!!!
When I was up getting a trade in price for my EL & they offered my extra because it has an Alpine sound system, I think they just like it beacuse it made the vehicle that little but more 'special' to be honest I simply don't understand how all that trade in stuff works.
cheers.
ps if anyone is interested its' still for sale would make a very good 2nd hand car !!!!

How to Fit Monaro Headlights and Taillights:
1) go to your local dealer, get all the parts (you need the Monaro light wiring harness for the taillights)
2) remove existing parts)
3) fit new parts
4) grab a beer, sit back and smile, your done!!
Its a REALLY easy conversion.

I've heard that fitting the Monaro lights into a VX are as simple as perry has said - that is if you can sipply a vin # from a Monaro so that Holden will actually get you one in the first place !!!
With Holden playing hardball with the genune lights, it can't be long before the aftermarket copys start to appear in droves.
Take HSV wheels for example, you can't get replacement ones without a vin #, but you can get a very, very good looking copy, get a HSV centre cap sticker & 'Bob's your uncle'.
cheers.

i think a VY monaro would look awsome, front end i think would be new front quarter panels, bumper(inc lights etc) and bonnet, however the rear end would require a hellava lota work. and the series II monaro has VY interior so thats easy fix. it would look awsome and more like a muscle car than a sports car. maybe even give it a couple of gills and a pair of bonnet scoops and itll be just right.

Hi, holden cannot refuse supply to purchasers of parts.
But, if it will let you get the parts, because your dealer doesnt know the rules of trade, either do one of two things:
a) simply read the vin number of a Monaro in the parking lot at the holden dealer (passenger side of windscreen).
b) email me and i'll send you a number. The number can be "invented" if you know the correct sequence in doing it.

Or you can get them from ozeparts.com.au .Not cheap though.

There is no restriction on the sale of Monaro Headlights or tail lights only HSV parts via the holden network. I got mine and I even went in prepared with the vin from a Monaro. I asked them twice are you sure this is ok the man behind the counter said there was no restriction on holden parts although it was sad that there would be so many look alike VT VX's running around, there are heaps here in Sydney, I am on the road for about 3 hours a day and see at least one conversion a day, especially out west.

Thanks for the information everyone, a big help. I saw the lights for sale in the Parts Peddler Magazine for a reasonable price and remembered this topic. So now I've got the opportunity to do this.

The whole nose and headlight assembly were transplanted from the VU SS ute support car (as you correctly said, the 2001 Targa ute) onto the V2 Monaro, it wasn't 'turned into' a Monaro headlight. As VX has the 'tear duct' section in the headlight the entire VU/VX nose was used. The Richards Monaro then became a 'VX SS Monaro'.
Any chance Richard of seeing the Richards/Cole Targa tassie Monaro in 1/43 like the Brock one.
Brocky did Targa NZ in his Targa tassy Monaro with Jenny Cole.
A 1/43 3 set containing Brock/Brock,Richards/Cole 02 Targa Tassie Monaros with Brock/Cole 02 Targa NZ Monaro would go great in our collections.
What does everyone else think of this suggestion?
