Once again. Check "Schuppan" on the website keywords and you will see there is a 1:18th model in the system now from Minichamps.

What about the Brabham 93 Peugeot?
Are there any more Aussies at Le mans models out there?
Also admin as part of the Brock collection will there be the Brock/Perkins Bob Jane T marts 1984 Le mans Porsche?

The '93 winning Peugeot of Brabham was modelled in 1/43 by Vitesse - both in a clean form and a 'dirty' post race form.

IXO also produced the '88 Jaguar XJ9 driven by Larry Perkins to 4th place but due to cigarette advertising this model was not officially available in Australia so you'll have to get one from overseas.

The first Australian to achieve sucess at LeMans was Bernard Rubin who actually won the 1928 race driving a Bentley. With IXO producing the '24 and '29 winning Bentley's hopefully the '28 Bentley of Rubin isn't far away.

Here are a few other models of Aussies at LeMans :-

1959 Aston Martin DB1 Jack Brabham (1st) - Model by Quartzo
(Brabham was listed as a driver but never actually drove)

1966 Ford GT40 Paul Hawkins #4 (DNF) - Model by OXA
1966 Ford GT40 Brian Muir #7 (DNF) - Model by Bang
1966 Ford GT40 Frank Gardner #8 (DNF) - Model by Bang

1968 Ford GT40 Paul Hawkins #10 (DNF) - Model by Bang

1974 Gulf Mirage Vern Schuppan # 12 (DNF) - Model by Verem

1975 Gulf Mirage Vern Schuppan #10 (3rd) - TBA by Spark

1976 Mirage GR8 Vern Scuppan #11 (5th) - TBA by Spark

1978 Mirage GR8 Vern Schuppan #10 (2nd) - TBA by Spark

1980 Porsche 935 K3 Alan Moffat #71 (DNF) - Model by Quartzo

1981 Porsche 936 Vern Schuppan #12 (12th) - Model by Trofeu

1984 Porsche 956 Schuppan/Jones #11 (6th) - Model by Vitesse
1984 Porsche 956 Rusty French #17 (9th) - Model by Vitesse
1984 Porsche 956 Alan Grice #21 (DNF) - Model by Vitesse
1984 Porsche 956 Brock / Perkins #34 (DNF) - Model by Vitesse

1990 Porsche 962 Thomas Mezera #55 (15th) - Model by Onyx

1996 McLaren Gulf David Brabham #34 (5th) - Minichamps

1999 Panoz David Brabham #12 (7th) - Minichamps & Onyx

2000 Panoz David Brabham #11 (15th) - Minichamps & Onyx

I had no idea there were so many Aussies at Le Mans - especially not that Moffat and Brock raced there! You might be interested to know that Vern Schuppan set up a workshop in High Wycombe, a few miles from me in the UK, where he built 220 mph road-going versions of the Porsche 962 Le Mans car, for a mere UK£870,000! And that was '92 prices..... The first 5 cars had unmodified 962 bodywork, but the remainder of the run were a new shape on 962 chassis and running gear. I think most went to Japanese tycoons....
I'm still waiting for 962s in 1:18, driven by anyone....

Jager it is good to see someone that does give credit to the first australian to win Lemans. A fact that is left hidden to much.

Thanks for the info.
I also know that www.pitstopmodelcars.com.au sell a Lex Davidson/Bob Stillwell Le mans 1961 Aston Martin.
Congragelations Jack Brabham on winning Le mans in 1959(the year he won world title #1).Brad Jones won the Adelaide le mans race inn similar fashion(entered to drive Croc car #77 but never turned the wheel to win it).
Now I'll wait for the Vern Schuppan 1983 winner to come out but someone tell me where I can get my hands onto a Geoff Brabham 1993 Pug winner-clean form or dirty(I'd prether dirty).
Now I have to get
*Mezera 1990 Porsche 962 #55
*Paul Hawkins 1966 or 1968 Porsche GT40's(heard he once did F1 while Brabham was still racing) #4 or #10
*Frank Gardner 1966 GT40 #8
*Moffat 1980 Porsche 935 K3 #71
*Brock/Perkins Bob Jane T marts Porsche 956 1984 #34
*Grice 1984 Porsche 956 #21
*Rusty French 1984 Porsche 956 #17(doesn't Rusty French still race?)
Any info on where I can find these will be most appreciated, email me at lowndesfan66@hotmail.com

Does anyone know of a Paul Hawkins 1963 Monaco GP model?
I read about one in a older Issue of MRA Australia.

Hi SWRT

I think the model your refering to might be the 1/43 Quartzo Lotus 33 from '65 Monaco (QFC045). However, I can't confirm that the model was actually released before the Vitesse group went bust.

If your wanting to put together a 'Paul Hawkins' collection you could also add the following - Ferrari 250 LM Targa Florio 1966 Hawkins/Epstein No.174 (Best Models - #9119).

I stand to be corrected but to my recollection Mark Skaife also drove in Le Mans and from again memory it was a black Panoz or a english car . Is there a model out of this one ?

FF.

Skaife drove a Lister Storm at Lemans with sponsorship from an English soccer team (can't remember the team name, just that their colours are black and white).

To the best of my knowledge there has never been a model of the Lister Storm road or race cars produced.

Mark Skaife drove a Lister at Le Mans in 1997. The car carried sponsorship from the Newcastle United soccer team and Adidas. Unfortunately it retired on lap 77 with gearbox failure.

There is a picture of the car at the link (scroll down to car #46):-

I was there in '97 and we followed the team truck to the circuit the week before! I had no idea Skaife was one of the drivers - my ignorance knows no bounds....

After looking at the Oran Park V8 program it says in Greg Murphy's career highlights that Murph won a Le mans class in a Porsche.
Someone fill me in on this and are there any models of this car?

Murphy drove the #71 Porsche 911 GT2 in the 1996 race where the car finished in 14th place overall. The car was predominantly red, with white & yellow trim with sponsorship by New Hardware Clothing. Here's a pic :-

http://www.p9.com/images/LeMans96/p71.jpg

Murphy's memory must be a bit hazy (due to petrol fumes !) because they were actually 2nd in class behind the #79 Porsche 911 GT2.

Vitesse produced models of several of these Porsche GT2's from the 1996 race. I have the #79 car( L167A) and I know they produced the #37 car (L167B), #27 car (L167C), #83 car (167D) & #76 car (L167F). I can only assume they also produced a '167E' model but that could one of several other Porsche 911 GT2's - #70, #73, #77, #82 or Murphy's #71 ?

Just came across this article about the Team Kiwi Porsche 911 GT2. The article also shows a picture of the Vitesse model of the cars as it appeared in the '97 race (Murphy drove it in '96) :-

http://www.rennen.co.nz/models/HewHware-GT2-Num83.htm

Apart from a reference on the Vitesse website I can't find any other references to a model of Murphy's car (although it perhaps wouldn't be too hard to convert the '97 car to a '96 car).

Vitesse website says the Murphy car is model #VL167D, it was driven by 2 other Kiwi's as well, and was a complete Kiwi entered team.
