All I need to do now is not do anything for a few weeks to pay for them all :D .
Keep up the good work

Monaro,
How did you manage to pre order the VR and Brock/Baird Bathurst car or do you mean you've ordered it at a local model shop.
I didn't think we could get these off the Biante site yet.

I went my local model shop and they showed me the list for their ordering and asked me what I wanted.

I have a question for you Monaro buffs! Due to financial constraints, I will only be able to pre order with my local supplier either the HT or HG Monaro 1/18 scale. I will then have to 'chance my luck' on the second hand market for the other one at a later date.
As I'm only a youngster, the Monaro's were before my time. My question is based on which of these 2 is the more classic, desirable (back in its heyday) etc. of the two. I know it sounds like I'm trying to assess which one potentially will be of more value but this is not the case - I collect for 'historical' purposes generally based around Holdens & only obtain a single unit.
I've tried searching the web for comparisions etc. but generally I've only located stories on the individual model.
Any thoughts?

The HK GTS is probably the best looking early monaro. Out of the HT and HG i'd say that the HT was more significant. HT introduced the production version of the aussie V8, in 4.2 or 5.0 litre. They also offered a "Bathurst Pack" with a 5.74 litre chev V8. HG was the last of update of the HK/HT series and the GTS went a bit soft. There was no "Bathurst Pack" as the Torana was introduced as the race weapon of choice. I can't really say which of the two was the most significant at the time, but i'd go the HT, it won Bathurst in '69 and with any luck Biante will make that as well.

If you have no personal favourite for whatever reason, I think you should go for whatever model 'looks' best to you as a collector.
Personally I would always go for the HK as this was my first car (HK Premier) and a good mate had a (resprayed) black metallic HK Monaro.
Cheers.............:)
Renz,
If you want historical significance, then the HK was the first of the original model Monaro. From general appearances sake, the HT and HG were the same body with face-lifts and other mods.

I'm aware of the 1:43 scale cars, but not the 1:18's.
Someone please confirm when the HK/HT/HG 1:18's are coming and in what colours.
As to which to buy, the HK GTS327 would be a fine machine especially if Biante do a good job on the chrome grille and full width taillight trim. The real machine looks great in Warwick Yellow.
Of the other two models, they both feature plastic grilles which are less attractive, but for my money the HT GTS350 looks more aggressive in the grille detail as well as in the broad twin centre body stripes. I'd be happy to see the HT version in white or orange with black stripe detail.
Graeme,
Unfortunately, the full width taillight trim is a painted metal strip across the boot. They look good, but I've seen some that have faded and look terrible.

Graeme,
Biante are making the HT and HG in 1:18. The HT is in Monaco Maroon and the HG in Indy Orange. From memory I think they are due around October/November but I may be wrong. For a pic of the HG look in the New Car Showroom under prototypes.
