For all those who have missed the boat on the DJR Sierra, for only a small premium over what's currently being asked for one on sold.com you can have a 1:1 scale Eggenberger RS500 from Bathurst 1988-92. Fully maintained by Allan Moffat and only USD$105000. See this week's Autosport (UK) magazine....

I remember with fondness a metallic grey '88 Cosworth I owned when I lived in the UK from '91-'96. I lived in Kent, only a few miles from Brands Hatch. Marvellous place in the summer.

The original pocket rocket in my eyes...........should have brought it back to Perth:cool:

I have seen only a few road going cossie's over here.....never seen one for sale.

So Nick have you paid your deposit on the 1:1 racer???

Sadly all my money is going on octane booster for my XC Cobra.....

There's a black RS near here, but the owner has ripped out the interior and is fitting a custom (ie tasteless and hideous) white leather interior......sacrilege! And I've just seen an ad for a Sierra XR8 "only 250 built" with a 302. Sounds interesting, and only £4700. For a while in the late 80s there were RS Cosworths everywhere, but now they're either closeted away safely, or thrashed and rusted. Don't think too many got to Oz....

Hell Nick how did you come across an XC Cobra????

Geez I bet that turns some heads over there.....351ci of V8 thumping around the cobblestones!!!!.

I remember petrol costing the earth over there....'bout twice what we pay here...is it still expensive?? I think leaded petrol was called 4-star or something like that.

Seriously..did you import the car or what?

Hi Timbo. I found the car in Adelaide a couple of years ago, and imported it earlier this year. And it scares other drivers and pedestrians, especially around the tight streets of Oxford! It's not just the noise and size of it, but I think the stripes freak them a bit...
The 4 star you remember has been discontinued, and leaded petrol is almost unavailable except from a tiny number of specialist suppliers at AUD$3/litre.......So I have to use 97 octane "super unleaded" and chuck in octane booster by the bottle-full, plus valve protector. Add the cost of that to the $2.40/litre of the petrol and you can see that I have to REALLY like driving my Cobra! Off out in it later today, as surprisingly for a UK summer it is actually hot and dry......

If that Eggenberger RS500 is a bit too cheap for anyone's tastes, then check out www.classicscars.com (note the extra 2 esses) for what has to be the best selection of 1:1 cars anywhere. Over the past year they've handled just about anything you've ever heard of, except Aussie cars of course. Heaps of rare road cars and racers, and lots of pictures. Enjoy perving!

Nick, Timbo and the rest of you guys, want to see some photos of my 1983 Ford Sierra XR4i? I've just recently bought it and it requires some T.L.C. Click on the link to view. Many thanks to Daniel for hosting the photos too! Tell me what you think. http://www.geocities.com/model_chat/baydenscar.htm

Bayden, Obviously your pride & joy. Looks in good nick for nearly 20 years old.

It appears to be unlicenced too! Probably cos your doing it up.

Cheers.............

Looks a damn sight better with that RS front than the original "chinless" design of the XR4i. I wonder why more people didn't do that conversion? Nice car, and quite rare where you are, I imagine!

After receiving my DJR Sierra and drooling over it for hours (I've loved these things since their introduction to Australia through International group A regs), I've been toying with the idea to repaint my Sierra into a DJR lookalike? What do you guys think? Would it add or subtract to it's value?:D

Well Bayden, over here the XR4i can be picked up pretty cheaply and not a few have been "Cosworthed" with a decent RS body kit. You already have the front done, so it's just the arch extensions, sills and rear spoilers, all of which are available at reasonable cost. With a good paint job I think you'll have a car to be very proud of, with decent performance to match.
