Hi All,
Just thought I might suggest a Poll on the abuse and rubbish that we have recently had to sift through to get to the Valuable Information on the major topics of this forum. I know the Biante Admin may not have enough time to go through every post and edit or delete what we don’t really come here to read. So a possible solution to this is to appoint some more trusted Moderators that can help out.

One thing that we don’t want to happen is to lose this forum, it’s a valuable source of information and I’m sure a lot of the people that visit here would be devastated if it were ever retracted, and going the way it is wouldn’t surprise me if it does happen, Remember if it does go all we have to rely on is the newsletter that biante graciously puts out.

So my Proposal is this:

1. Be Civil to each other.
OR
2. Risk the Closure of the Forum Altogether.

Paul,

An excellent idea.

I am sick of all the personal attacks and the sooner this forum gets back to the basics of discussing diecast models, the better.

Yes, gentlemen, couldn't agree more.

Whilst I enjoy good natured stirring, some of the stuff I've seen recently is not needed here. I've also noticed some users with names designed to antagonise others.

Although it is a free country, and we enjoy freedom of speech, I can't cop those who abuse the piviledge. It's not what this forum is about.

Cheers, Tony.

Yes, if people gave their contributions to the forum a bit more thought and considered the different ways things can be read into it, I bet it would be a lot more interesting than some of the crap that has been thrown together in here of late. There is tons of information on models / cars / racing to be shared and learnt on this forum which i find a joy to read. Sure, someone will not always be quite correct on some details sometimes, but please find a way to let them know in a civil manner without "shooting them down". I, like many other people read this forum everyday and learn lots about our hobby from it, but when you have to sift through childish and sometimes hostile remarks it becomes a lot less enjoyable. If you want slagging matches, go to the pub and start it there or join a debate team. There is a lot of good humorous digs which are also great but make sure they are done in a fun context and are not threatning to anyone in anyway. I'm no great one with words so I don't reply all that often unless it is something that I think may be useful to others or something that I would like to know more about. What I think of when contributing to the forum is Just because you can say something, doesn't mean you have to. Like the old saying goes "if you can't find anything good to say about someone then don't say anything at all".

Thats my two bob's worth.

Cheers, Jason :)

This is one of the better forums I visit and hope it stays that way. One forum I used to visit and post on was at www.conrod.com.au it is related to V8supercars and has now gone downhill because of morons who have nothing better to do than Sh!t stir. My only other bit of advice is if someone comes in and baits people is to ignore them and they will go away.

I just posted on the thread: 'Do we really need a forum posts poll?' about this exact issue. It is a problem that personal vindictiveness is sometimes getting the better of some replies, which, in the long term brings no enjoyment to anybody - especially if we lose this forum.
As I said in the other thread, I offer no solutions. I don't know how to combat the problem, aside from a complete shift in attitude toward each other's right to post opinions, and a lesson in forum etiquette. We are only human it is true, but the whole business of putting others down is not worth incurring the wrath of anybody. I can't believe that anyone is out to make enemies on this forum.

As for reducing this forum to a model-only discussion, it would severly limit the topics to discuss. These models are directly related to motorsport, and talking about motorsport is one of life's great pleasures. To remove that would be a great shame. Then we would be reduced to things like: "gee, the flushness of the boot on the Commodore was good, wasn't it?", and "I believe the sponsors decal should be a further half-millimetre lower than it's current position." etc. After a while, it gets rather inane and dull. And most of us would be bored spitless after a few weeks of that.

Just a question: What topics do most of the problems start from? V8 Supercars? Ford Vs. Holden debates? I care for neither, so am not directly involved in any of it, occasionally reading the odd post. If those topics that caused the most problems were removed from discussion, would that do the trick? The only unfortunate aspect of that would be that censorship would be rearing its ugly head.
It might not be fair, but it might save this forum if it gets any worse.
