Kristy,

Is there any way of knowing what the Cartificate numbers were for these and the previous thefts. If someone offers them up for sale we can then let people know and maybe trace them back to the theives.

I don't have them for these items, but it is certainly advisable to make a note of all models and certificate numbers in case of this type of thing happening.

Sorry to hear of yet another loss. Again my offer ( here (http://turing.ibc.com.au/bianteforums/showthread. php?s=&threadid=289&pagenumber=1) ) stands to assist in keeping track of the certificate numbers.

The easiest way to do this is 'user driven' and community monitored, this relives Biante staff from having to do all the work and taking more time away from what I would imagine to be an already very busy working day.

If Biante did want to get involved they could have a back end administration where they allocate blocks of numbers to certain dealers and a host of other features.

Thoughts??

Sorry to hear more models have gone astray, Zorak i think the idea of a model or COA number registry is a great idea, and im sure everyone that has the models will think so too. If there is anyway that i can help personally get this registry started please contact me. I dont know what kind of help i can offer with this but am approachable with any ideas.

I know a lot of you may cringe to hear this, but I am going to get the bottom of my models engraved with at least my certificate No. right under the factory markings. I am also considering putting my family name on them as well as I have no intentions of selling them and my 2 boys will be happy to take my collection from me when I go to that big Bathurst in the sky...

Yep I'm with you Martin, my cars are getting engraved this weekend.
As far as i am concerned, if its out of sight its still mint in box and after all, its the certificate number, its not as if its covered in grafitti.
I know this has been raised before, but i wish there was a way it could be done at the time of manufacturing.
The number doesnt need to match the certificate, that would be up to the buyer to log his/her "chassis No"
Cheers.

Some of the minichamps cars have the number printed on the bottom, especially when they are sold as a limited collection.

This makes it easier to track at swapmeets and second hand dealers, but make sure you have good quality photo of your car with any relevant documentation ie Biante sales doc's.

For me I have all of mine, in an A5 binder seperate from the cars, each pocket (A5 is perfect for all Certificates) has the certificate and the purchase receipt with a photo of the actual model.

The Pockets I use are good quality and will not allow the certificate to stick or lift off on to the plastic.

Works for me.

People who steal regardless of what it is are scum.

while it is regrettable that diecast models have been stolen ...
with perhaps millions of models and thousands of collectors,
does the incidence of this behaviour warrant such an involved system as a register?....

secondly before you go engraving and identifying your models....
if your models are stolen and they are recovered and identified they may not be returned to you but held as evidence perhaps for years till the case is heard and settled and you have no guarantee of their condition upon return
...so will you really want them back...or would that insurance money in 60 days be better

We are almost at the final stage of development for our Biante Security System which will provide identification for all your models not just ones we supply.
It is undectable except to those who get the system and will provide total peace of mind without having to disfigure the models.
It will also allow you to check models at swap meets etc to see if they have been coded and then we can put specifics up on the site and victims will know where their models have gone and hopefully recover them.
It will be on the market for under $15.00 by mid November.
Lock em up til then!!
