Just reading an old Street Machine magazine (sept'89) in it was a article on falcon coupes at bathurst . It has a picture of the Moffat/Geoghegan XA and I noticed on the rear 1/4 some black tape peeling off which is covering the words Grace Bros. Does anybody know why it was covered up? And a question for admin -will the model have Grace Bros written on the quarter or will it be covered up?

for memory last minute changes meant that grace bro`s wasnt on the moffat car ,as Grace Bro`s is on the brock/chivo`s XU-1 .
dont know why but brock/chivas had Grace Bro`s on there car in 1973 anyway .

Someone's very observant.

Having read this query, I reviewed my books, magazines and video and noted that in relation to Bathurst 1973 :

1) Moffat's car #9 was wearing black Grace Bros logos on the rear quarters just ahead of the side repeater lights but the logo on the passenger (left) side was mostly covered over by black tape.

2) The sister Gibson car #6 had no Grace Bros logos.

3) Grace Bros featured on other cars, most notably in large type on one of the Valiant Chargers.

Grace Brothers was a sponosr of "Pete" Geoghegan.
Maybe the deal to be on the hot favourite Moffat car was not suitable to Allan, or agreed to and then not honoured. Who knows?
I will ask Allan next time I talk to him and let everyone know...including me!

There is an article on the XA Falcon Hardtop in the Sep/Oct issue of Motor Racing Australia magazine.

On page 67 there is a clear picture of the 73 Moffat / Geoghan XA with tape beginning to peal off the Grace Bros logo on the lower drivers side rear quarter.
