I have four 1:18 Models and three of them have had damage to the underside where the mounting screws have "missed" the hole when being screwd in.

One model (DJR last Bathurst) was happily replaced by Gateway Models after I returned it, a new hole was almost made when original hole was missed. My recently received Moffat #9 also shows signs of minor damage where "they" have had a couple of attempts to screw the base to the model causing minor gouges to the base where "they" missed the hole.

Also one of the risers that the front of the car mounts on was split, it appears the screw was tightened too much, this has not affected the model at all though.

I understand that every model cannot be checked for damage but what Warranty are we intitled to?, especially in the case of a Moffat #9 as it is nearly impossible to replace.

I repeat, the damage is very minor although annoying.

thanks
Peter

I agree, it may not be much, but it does get annoying. I'm not concerned too much with under the car, its the external appearance that concerns me most.

I returned my Lowndes 03 1:18 as the front guard had a chip in it, most stores now ask you to check the model before you leave but its hard when its screwed to a box.

I reckon clamshell packaging is the way to go. For 1:18 anyways.

No screws just foam and foam blocks holding the car in.

The top end manufacturers like CMC & Exoto pack their models this way. I much prefer it to screwed in and down.....

Cheers,
