Admin, are you travelling all the way to "The Cars of the Stars" museum in the UK to measure up the Mad Max Falcon? I guess, with the XB bodyshell already modelled, you can just add the necessary bits and pieces fom photos (or even replicas). But that way you don't get a nice overseas trip out of it! For anyone else planning a trip to the UK, the car is in Keswick, in the beautiful Lake District of Cumbria.....

I think a madmax model of either the xb coupe or the yellow xb interceptor sedan would be worthwhile, i wouldnt hesitate to buy one.

There is a chap who lives only a few streets away from me who actually builds lifesize complete replicas of the black coupe mainly to overseas customers. When i was last over there he had a completed coupe which was arguably identical and true to the cult icon, right down to the mock but working supercharger.
He also had an XB interceptor sedan which was possibly or possibly not associated with the movie, but it was certainly also true to the one we see on film. His car was featured in streetheat magazine (Perth) along with a friends coupe replica.

If Biante did decide they wanted to build a madmax machine they may well want to save the airfare and speak to this fella.

For anyone interested,Mad Max....the original movie has finally been released on DVD here in Melbourne.I bought it on Sunday and played it on Monday night.
My 10 year old nephew heard all the noise coming from my bedroom and said what is this wierd movie?
He walked away from his favorite Simpsons and sat and watched Mad Max.
The extras that come with this disc show the movie trailors for Mad Max 2 (Road Warrior) and Mad Max 3 Beyond Thunderdome....
The next night,my nephew came around and said will you buy Mad Max 2 ?.......He had that twinkle in his eye!
The disc even said that people from the U.S.A were chasing the Aussie disc version because the original video was dubbed with American accents.
Biante.......1:18......bring it on!

mmazz30.....

The MAD MAX movie just released is the no frills version. IE no extras (hardly).

I own MM2 & MM3 on DVD. I will not be buying the current MM1 release. I shall wait till the 'special edition' 'collectors edition' 'money grabbing greedy studio edition' comes out.

The current release has quite a poor transfer, only slightly better than VHS! The studio will re-master (like they have done with the sound for current release) the film and no doubt will flog it off in a super duper triple box set.....with all the extras like cast interviews, trailers for MM1 (where are they on the new release!!). I would like to see the trailers for the US version (Road Warrior)...all dubbed with yankee accents and have a laugh. You're right, the US version was dubbed......why???

Anyway keep an eye out for the 'proper' re-release and then flog your copy on SOLD.COM or eBay and enjoy the movie the way it should have been re-released in the first place.

Finally I'm suprised your 10 year old nephew is allowed to watch a R18+ movie.......

Mad Max DVD poor quality????
Mate, you must be hard to please!!!!!!

I got mine last Tuesday, and I've watched it 3 times already!!!
The soundtrack is a million times better than my VHS video...

How do you know that they will do a 'super' release?????
It took over a year for this one to surface as I'd pre-ordered on Ezy-DVD September last year!!!!

It was worth the wait!

The movie trailer clips for MM2 & 3 are a bit dodgy as they're in the American voice-over. It would have been excellent to have the movie trailer clip for MM1!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't care what happens now, I've completed my set.
Happy viewing!

Ed :)

Mark,

Some good gear there. As good as the MFP 4 door and Interceptor looked, image how unreal they'd be in BIANTE 1:18  (C'mon Admin, we're dying out here!!!)

Just one quick reference back to the MM1 DVD....

XR8, my VHS copy has a poor soundtrack. From what I understand, you're saying the DVD in vastly improved? I'm after an opinion from someone who has both VHS and DVD, before I spend the $$.

Cheers, ET351 (in a supercharged black coupe:cool: )

I got Mad Max on DVD a couple of months ago here in Bangkok...it is a region 3 version.

The sound quality is good.

The audio options are interesting as the choice is between 'english' and 'australian english'...obviously we do have our own language in Aus. I checked it out with the yankke accents and it is a bit weird.

ET351,
yes mate, the sound is much better.
My VHS copy of Mad Max One is quite old, and the soundtrack quality was very suss to begin with.
It's one of the original 'soft plastic' covers, not the later harder types. I've watched it probably 20 times over the years.......

The DVD soundtrack is much better, fortunately my stereo has surround / Dolby sound.

The soundtrack does have a few minor faults, but you be hard pressed to get much better. Unfortunately, I never had the opportunity to see the real original at the movies, so I'm probably being too picky!!!!

It's worth mentioning that I've played both the VHS and the DVD through the same system, so I believe it's a fair comparison.

Also, the scene where Max drives onto the highway to begin his chase with the Knight Rider, sounds absolutely real.
Very much like our old XB 351 auto......
Turn the volume up heaps, it's great!!!

ET, you won't regret it, I promise!!!!

XR8..........

Not hard to please..........just damm wary of the studios who put out DVD's 'no frills' editions only to release the same movie with extras on it and call it a 'special edition' or 'collectors edition' or some other crap. It wouldn't be so bad if the no frills edition cost only $15 or so not $30....

I give you Lord of The Rings as an example. There are already three (3) 'different' releases of the movie. A 2-disc special edition, a 3-disc collectors edition and either a 4 or 5 disc super whammy edition with bookends of all things!!!

They range in price from $30.00 to $150.00.

It has happened to me before. You buy a DVD only to find that weeks/months later another version is coming out.....it sucks.

Mad Max will be re-released............I'd bet on it!! Probably a triple box set I'd say....

Anyway buyers/collectors of DVD's....beware of DVD layer rot. It happens and means your disc is unplayable and worthless.....If it happens to you take it up with the studio and/or retailer. They should replace the disc for you free of charge....

Not sure if everyone has forgot about this model, but I will ask again.

How long until we will see a 1:18 model of this car.
Has the licence been obtained & what is happening.

I have told the missus not to get me ANY more XMAS or birthday present. Save the money until this car is released.

Admin can you shed some light as it is getting pretty dark.

Cheers

Admin / Biante,

Been quite some time now, and was wondering if there is any more news on the making of the mad max car, into a diecast replica.

If you cant wait have a look at this web site.

Is is a remote control MAD MAX CAR.

Dunno what all the Japanese writing says but it still looks pretty good.

Yet another month gone by with no new posts.

Admin, can you shed any light on where the licensing on this car is and if we will EVER see it.

Thanks

I just checked out the Mad Max car in the link and it has really inspired me.

The Radio Control car it is based on is one produced by Kyosho called a Mini-Z. These RC's can be easily customised. Basically you can use many common 1:24 and 1:25 plastic model kits for the shell. I've been customising one of my Mini-Z's with a 1970's Skyline shell, but maybe I should consider something a bit m oe radical like a Mad Max car.
