Just wondering, besides hiding certificates,to what extent does one go too, to make it harder for a thief to dispose of your models.
Does any one engrave or mark the certificate number on the car?

I thought about engraving the certificate number on the car, but was wondering if this would devalue the model? Would be interested in some opinions.

I have said yes although i do not put the cert numbers on the car.
I too use the Biante Security System. I was told by police and neighbourhood watch to put my licence # on the models and other valuables.
So that's what i do. The police can trace the item back to me using my licence #.

I too use the Biante Security System,
I place the certificate No. and my initials on the underside in at least 2 locations if possible and record all certificate numbers. Also I dont hide the certificates,
let them pinch them too, will make it easier to trace if they have the certificates with them.

all my models and all my other other assets are registered on this site
www.taggassets.com.au
it is linked directly to the police.
Marking them does no good, as the resources for the police are limited and they do not have the time to scan everything, unless they know they are marked, and this system can let them know that if you ahve them marked.
Also tiny security seals (availabel from the same site) that cannopt be removed and can be made from as small as 10mm by 5 mm with even smaller print so you can cut them and place them discreetly on your models without devaluing it. and again noting that on the Tagg System lets police know where to look.
The system is actually being looked at by the insurance industry as part of their policies

Would it be possible for ebay to have as part of conditions of sale on there site that the COA number be displayed as part of the sales info like rego numbers in trading post and classifieds etc.
That way it would be harder to sell stolen models. Biante could also set up a page on there web site with all stolen COA numbers, like a REV's check system.
retailer should record there stock and if a break in accurse report all stolen numbers to Biante to be listed, even make it available to us collectors.
Some type of system should be considered even a news letter to organisations that re sell models like these.
This hobbie has become huge so the effort would be worth it.:)

That's a great idea but I think it would cause problems. I can't see staff at ebay knowing what models have certificates and what don't.

Its a pen and UV light set. You write your whatever on models/valuables. You can only see the writing using the UV light supplied.
Have a look on the website. Search for Biante Security. Its a cheap way to add a level of security to your collection.
BIANTE i would like stickers to say that the items are coded. Is this possible/available? Not to put on the models but on windows of the home like my alarm system.

Timbo.
