Even though Gore is entitled to use the #11 after buying LP franchise I believe the number should stay with Perkins and permantly retired when Larry finally quits the sport. The number 11 is synonymous with Larry as was #05 with Brock, and the only one who can use 05 is Peter Perfect. I think a ledgend and icon of the sport like Lightening Larry should have his trademark number retire with him.

Yeah I agree with you. Not sure if Larry would though...I don't think he's too sentimental about that sort of thing.

The #05 was also part of an educational program that PB was involved in,one may suggest that the number was retired as a mark of gratitude and to mark the end of an era,I dont think that the #11 has the same significance, even though, lets say it is Larrys number. :D ::D

I think the number should stay with Larry's team but do not think it should be retired when he quits the sport. I'm not really with all this retiring of numbers thing.
I actually think that having the chance to use a number used by an icon of the sport might even inspire a young driver.
That said, I think 05 is different. That is not a "normal" racing number and really is a Brock trademark. No one else should drive a car with that number on the door.

Jason Plato should have NEVER been allowed to even sit in the car with 05 on the side!!

I think #11 should stay within the Perkins Motorsport team, after all Larry's cars have carried the number now for quite a few years but I don't think it should be retired when Perkins leaves V8's.

Maybe one day Jack Perkins may take over the #11 car...

A number should stay with a team for as long as it needs to but should not be retired.A number has big signifcance at times but we all gotta move on.

there's really only one number thats sacred and that 05. no one before or after will use it. i cant say that about any other number. almost said it about 17 but no quite. maybe jnr johnson should of used another number just to be separate from dad, but if jnr leaves anytime, i reckon 17 will say.
