Can anyone (admin?) let us know why on the 2001 1:18 Championship HRT V8 Supercars that the chequers on the back flanks don't fade out as they get closer to the back? I know on the real presentation cars they didn't, but the actual Champ cars do. To me it's just not precise like any of the other cars they have done.

Glenn, are we talking 1/18th cars.

If so each of the three cars, Presentation ATCC and bathurst is slighly different.

1. Presentation car, the checkers are smaller and more rounded and finish prior to the boot and the lowest row out of the rear wheel has 2 and a half checkers. Mine has a an open checker under the rear window above the il in mobil.

2. ATCC car, the checkers are higher on the car and the checkers go onto the boot with 2 on the roof pillar and 1 and a half at the lowest point. The Mobil logo is also higher than that of the presentation and the white paint around the rear wheel is slightly different (but this may be due to differences in paint process).

3. Bathurst car, Same as ATCC car with exception of the roof pillar (1 checker and addition of data dot logo sticker over top of top checker) as well as other previously documented stickers added to the cars.

Also if you look closley at the presentation and the ATCC cars you will notice that the Bridgestone decals are lower in position than those on the ATCC / Bathurst cars and the Yamaha on the lower sill is larger.

My guess is the presentation car was a bit of a guess and it was corrected for the release of the ATCC / Bathurst make over.

I thought Biante were influenced by what the particular manufacturer or race team wanted their model to look like.
Surely the presentation car was based on what the race car looked like at its press release and the subsequent changes have been made to the new models.
I just think its fantastic that Biante update the models. For all I know, I would never have noticed the various changes mentioned by Aussie Collector apart from the drivers names on the Bathurst car.
I've also noticed the differences between the various VT models in regards to interiors, petrol cap location, rollcages etc.
I'm sure many manufacturers would have found it a lot easier to cast one die and then just slap on all the different teams race colours.

The detail on all these models is stunning....

I have attached a picture to better illustrate what I was getting at.

Also notice how the (*)Yamaha logo has the (*) after the A instead of before the Y. It is like this on the Bathurst cars also.

Do you think the logos on the side skirt could be bigger like the ones on the actual car - they always look out of scale to me compared to the other logos on the car.

I'd have to see a picture of the real presentation car, but I would say they have just used the decal set for the presentation car on the ATCC cars. The decals on the side skirt aren't in the right positions. They need to be further towards the front and closer together. and swap the Yamaha bit around.

I too noticed that the checkers didn't fade as they moved towards the back of the car. The detail on these cars is still superb and yes I am a little dissapointed about it not being 100% However I am sure that Biante are aware of these things and as we have seen - Every new model that Biante release they somehow manage to raise the bar yet again. They too want to see these models produced with 100% accuracy. Unfortunately sometimes it is just out of there control. Example the Skaife/Morris car with the incorrect spelling.

Just yesterday I picked up the 2002 Bathurst magazine and there is a very interesting 1 page article towards the back about Biante. It shows some of the detail the go to in getting the models correct. This particular example is about the Brock/Mezera model.

Is it fading or is it dirt and oil, the track was wet at Sandown and this would be the spray line of any muck coming out from the back wheels.

I can't find a pre-race and post race photo to compare the two, as much as I love to stick it to Biante when they get it wrong I don't think they would have goosed this? But then I could be wrong.

If anyone has a clean shot of the HRT cars prior to the start it would help.

We actually were involved with the presentation cars for 2001 back in December 2000 when it was still partly in the old scheme. I decided with HRT that we would make some presentation cars and present the first 48 of each car to the key sponsors, as well as the stores who would get the rest.
I left the workshop after the "final" photo shoot for these cars on the second week of January and put them into production. In the ensuing 3 weeks before the launch, HRT, as all teams do, swapped a couple of things around and thats why the changes from our car to theirs.
But there are still a heap of differences to them and the race cars if you look closely. And it was the first time ever that the model and the race car were presented on the same day.
The "Fading" mentioned on the white rectangles, is actaully hundreds of different size holes punched thru the white and the holes get bigger towards the rear and it make it look like its fading as there is more and more red showing thru.
The white bit is about 130mm long (scaled down is 7.2mm long) and, sorry guys, but there is no way to make 100's of little holes in something this small. We tried but it looked lousy.
My road car is painted up the same as the race car is and these bits with the "fading" are actually stickers as they cant even paint the full size ones to get the effect.

Question answered.

Must admit I had not noticed until pointed out that the sections were not all white. On the TV at speed its hard to tell.

Admin, Quick question, the Bathurst Car (single) soon to be released, will this car be a truer version of the car or will it have the decals over the top of the printed logo's like the first run.

Iam just interested, so I can decide whether to get one if they are going to be different.

Thanks

To Admin.... do you have a road going HRT lookalike? Is this a perk from being involved with them, or did you have to pay to get this done and if so, how much does it cost to get a V8 Supercar replica? You don't see too many of them on the road, none really, which I'm surprised about.

As for my observation, that clears that one up. Thanks.

Unrelated to this topic, is there plans in the future to do the current spec HSV Clubsports? By far the best looking HSVs to date. And Utes PLEASE!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks........

Nice car, selling it with only 8000km's on it? I'm giving you guys to much of my money.:D
Maybe if I spent my cash on a real car instead of models I would have one too? and not a Datsun 1600.:)
