A question for Admin - Is it posible that the current situation of not producing any Perkins models may change in the future.

It would be a great shame for all of us collectors ( including yourselves ) if Biante was never in a position to produce some of these cars.

The bathurst collection will never be complete without a couple of the Perkins models.

I realise that some of it is politics ( and lets not get into that ) but I am sure that I'm not the only one that would like to have some of these models in my collection.

In the meantime keep up the excellent work - You are the Benchmark.

Classics might allow Biante to do a Perkins collection.
For Perkins model collectors in October Trax will be releasing a Perkins Bathurst debut model(Janson/Perkins 77 Torana),
Trax's site is www.topgear.com.au,then go to new releases.
For Ford fanatics there will be a part Bathurst winner release, the Geohagan brothers 1967 Falcon which was the winner for 3 hours after the race before officials found that it was 1 lap behind Gibson/Firth.
Heres some Larry Perkins items I have-
2001 Helmet by CC's
driver figurine by CC's
2001 season 1/43 by CC's
2002 1/43 by CC's
2000 1/43 by CC's
1999 1/43 by CC's
1997 Bathurst winner 1/43 by CC's
1997 season 1/43 by CC's
1988 season 1/43 by Trax
1988 Le mans Silk cut Jaguar 1/43 by IXO
Any F1 Perkins cars out there or are Biante doing one Admin?

I am with you on the perkins cars. The ones that won bathurst in my opinion, have a great paint scheme, and would be a shame to not see these done by biante in 1/18.
Hope it is possible to do these cars in the future.

I have, loste treasures, but I belong to the camp who prefer to not have the model at all than have such a poor one. I can't imagine how bad it would look next to the Biantes! I'll just have to be grown up about this, and wait...

I am a little confused  as to why BIANTE will not be making any of the earlier Perkins cars. If it is a sponsorship issue in regards to one of their current sponsors (classic carlectables) I can't see why as they do not make the earlier cars (unless they are planning to) or is it because BIANTE do not wish to make these cars fullstop?

Are there legal issues which are stopping these cars being produced???

Also does this mean the Brock/Perkins 82,83,84 Bathurst Winners will not be made in the future?

Some interesting responses.

I do hope that the Bathurst cars can still be produced. I hoping the Brock ones will be the first step anyway.

One other Castrol car from the past that I would like to see is the one that Russell Ingall raced in the 2000 Canberra GMC 400.
This was the GTX Magnatec sponsored car.

Biante will be doing all the Brock Bathurst winners as far as I know. In regards to LP, I think I remember admin saying he wasn't the best bloke to deal with and they wouldn't be doing any more of his cars.
This was quite a while ago and hopefully things will change.

This was brought up recently and from memory (Admin correct me if I am wrong) Biante have the licence for the cars, but Perkins Management is signed with C/C.

I'm a great LP fan and have collected models of all his cars from '77 A9X Torana to the '04 Castrol Formula R team cars of SR, PB and TL. To complete the set I am getting a custom Castrol Cougars of 1997 done as Larry built this one for the girls to drive.

Larry's blue and yellow '92 VL would look great next to his white '90, whether it's CC or Biante making them! Perhaps CC could do more than just the XT and Charger sometime soon......

The girls driving this car was a stop gap ( cancelled order) measure, not a predetermined campaign.

Unfortunately Larry's cars never came with a sail ... would have been appropriate as he was always full of hot air . The guy was/is a clown , boasting about the fastest VK etc, supposed to build fast cars but the Brock VH/VK cars exploded more than they should, as did the ill-fated VN campaign. The man is well-balanced though, he has chips on both shoulders!

Wow, LP a clown who can't build cars..
Must be 1st of April.;)
Sails would be no good, hot air rises.. If he was full of wind, that would be a different.:D

Out of interest, would people refuse to buy a model of a car driven by someone they didn't like, even if the car looked great? I don't know LP so I can't comment, but I like his cars!

(So thats why LP and JR won so many Bathursts...)

Yep, I will and do not have any models of the ferrari driver that was the team mate of Gilles Villeneuve and due to his actions
Gilles had an accident in Belgium which was fatal.
I was in the pits of a certain German driver that race.

Blimey, FF! That must have been a grim day for you. I suppose there is a difference between not liking a driver because of his general attitude, and not liking him because he (indirectly) led to a death! I would argue that Villeneuve didn't HAVE to drive with the red mist, and maybe he would still be alive? I don't imagine you've got a model of Pironi's powerboat then?

Anyway, as LP hasn't, as far as I know, killed anyone, I'm happy to buy a model of his car.

I'm not a big LP fan either but have all his cars released in 1:18 so far. I'm hoping things can be sorted out so we see the Castrol Bathurst winners produced. These are a big gap in my current collection I feel.

The circumstances cannot be explained nor reasoned about 25 odd years later.
I t is a different world today with different values.

Keep an eye out for these cars through dealers or ebay as dinkum have released them. They already take pride of place amongst other Dinkum models.

Nick Short
02-04-2005, 06:10 PM
I've seen the Dinkum versions, and that's why I'd like Biante to make them! They are truly awful, for the simple reason that they are the wrong shape all over, a fairly fundamental problem.........Even cheap stuff like Maisto are modelled fairly accurately, even if the materials and overall finish isn't the greatest.

thats why LP has the best record of any car/team at bathurst in the v8 supercar era, i think he has finished every year & quiet a few a the podium, & as for the vk thing arent you forgetting bathurst 84 even 83-82?

the bathurst collection will never be complete without the 3 perkins bathurst winners which will be good if biante can make these cars. also the 98 pirtek bathurst el is also a really good one i wash was made in 1:18
