Hi DR
In respraying i would definatly sand the little sucker right back to metal as i have found if you dont it causes probs with the new paint (bubbles and soforth) as to fitting the motor and interior just be rather careful on cuts to fit it reason being if your not carful it gunna stuff the parts and make them non usuable take the time to measure up and have a play matching the interior up from the torry to the new bits seeing what you will need to cut or sand
If you get stuck email me at http://www.

Do you actually sand down the paint to bare metal? Why not use a paint remover? The jelly type that you brush on and it bubbles away the paint from the metal. I've used it on several Buragos and UTs. Then I use a metal etching primer as a base. On the plastic parts such as bumper covers, I use a product called 'ELO', easy lift off, found in the model railroading section. It safely removes decals and paint from plastic parts.

Surprisingly enough i use nail polish remover for the decals as it doesnt leave residue then i sand the model right back reason behind this is here is no chance of any residue from any product left behind when painting wich can cause blistering and orange peel in the paint if you take your time they do come up realy well take a look at some of my models at http://www.vanpyremodels.d2g.com

Very nice work! I love the Intercepter.
I use nail polish remover, too. Works great on tampo printing, too.
