Hard to choose Glen. That program seems to be great. Making me want a digital camera and photoshop now lol. Great to see your pics back on the forums.
I once saw a vl calais dark green, walkie body kit, and mags. Looked so nice. Any chance of a dark green pic, please.

That'd be a great job!!! Designing Customised streeters of great Australian muscle.
Biante would have to get the rights to Simmons and MOMO wheels, cause I'd love to do a few customs with these wheels on them.

Here is a wallpaper I did of the Hothouse Green Walkingshaw. You'll find a full size pic of it on Cameron's website.

Glen,
Another awesome picture... I have added it to my site but currently it has reached its download limit (I have had a lot of hits recently) ... resets around 2p/3p today.
Until then you all have to wait for your bigger version of this wallpaper hehehehe.

How do you manage to get such good light etc with your pictures?
The lights on looks great too.
I am guessing that you then flash them up in Photoshop.
End result - Excellent
Any tips for us novice's ?

Before I get to the Photoshop stage, I get the largest poster I have, mine is a bus shelter Spiderman Movie poster, a fluoro light, and the cars. I set up the fluoro light behind the camera shining on the car. I keep the camera in the same position, and make sure you put the cars in the same positon as each other to get the scale right. Make sure all the settings are the same for every photo, for exact lighting etc.
In PhotoShop
To make the headlights appear on, you have to use the circle selection tool and and select the area around the headlight, make the selection bigger than the headlight though. Then go to the top where it says filter and go to Render ---> Lens Flare. Here it will have a preview window and you'll see the headlight. Place the lens flare where bulb would be then adjust the brightness to suit.
Adding wheels. Use the circle selection tool again and select the wheels that you want to use. Then simply paste them onto the oicture you are creating.
Lowering the car. This can be a little tricky and took me a while to master. From the very left side of the picture use the polygonal selection tool (this is on the second row of the toolbar) and select the body of the car and the background, it is hard to explain so I have attached a picture outlining it. Once you have finished your selection go to Edit ---> Copy, then Edit again ---> Paste. Then you can move it up and down, having the background in your selection stops the top of the car underneath showing.
Changing colour. Use the polygonal selection tool again, but this time select only the paintwork, leave out the windows, headlights etc. Then while holding down the Alt key (this minus' the selection you made, select the windows and this will take the selection off the windows (if you catch my drift!!!) Then go to Image ---> Adjust ---> Selective colour. In this window you'll see a tab at the top with Red, you can bring this down and reveal different colours, select the colour you wish to change, then use the sliders to change the colour.
Adding the livery is very hard and takes hours, it took me 2 hours to do the HRT Walkie. And it would be really hard to explain here on the forum.
Hope this gives you an idea and hope to see some of your creations soon!!!!!
Have fun now!!LOL

Walky...
I think if you added up the cost of making one of these, you might change your mind!!!! You need to buy a Walkinghaw and a HSV GTS Coupe for starters. Then you need to strip them both down, and it takes a lot of work (I've done it before!!!), then you need to try and get the wheels off the Coupe without braking anything (done that before - braking that is!!!) and try and fit them to the Walkingshaw. Then you need to buy the paint etc etc.
A lot of work involved with high costs!!! But I wouldn't mind maybe building one of them!! If you go to Cameron's (the goldie) site there is a new colour chart there with 15 different colours!!

Thanks heaps Glen,
For emailing me that pic. Made me want a vl now, paint it the same green and wack on the wilki body kit, plus those GTS rims.
Hmmm better stop drooling, and work on getting one lol.
Thanks again.

That's pretty funny, cause after doing the dark green one, I went straight to the Trading Post.com and checked some prices on VL Calais. And had the same idea!!!!!!!!
Does make you drool though. A car like that wouldn't last 5 minutes out the front of my place.

I am going to look into it, have wanted something like it in the past, and seeing that great pic, has relit the flame.
Can anyone have a ruff guess, as to what it would cost to make one?
My guess is
$4,000 - $6000 for a clean car
$2,000 for the wheels
$2,000 - $3,000 for the new paint
No idea on the body kit
Maybe add a nice exhaust too.
Glen Alexander
14-09-2002, 07:23 PM
I think you might find the paint job more around the $5000. Depends where you go, and if you pay cash too.
You will definately need an exhaust, something as nice looking as this deserves one. Would you get a V8?
It might be hard to get those exact wheels, supposedly you have to own a HSV to get stuff like that.
Bodykit would be around $1500 - $2000 mark I would say. I got a price on a VS Clubsport kit and that was $1800 off someone I know!!
The car, depends if you just go a normal commodore or a Calais, personally I'd go the Calais.
Glen
I reckon it'd come between $15000 - $20000. At a guess.

V8 for sure, love the sound so much. I'd pic a calais too.
$15,000 - $20,000 ruins my dream.
Would have to miss to many Biantes with that car.

HAHAHA Biante is a strong addiction!!! Maybe they should open a Biante Collectors' Anonymous group!!!!
I reckon if I add up all I've spent in the last couple of years, i'd be on my way to owning a car like that!!!! That really is shocking!!!!

I have stopped adding mine up, as the total could cause health problems lol.
Biante Collectors' Anonymous group, great idea, and hmmm looking that way I need to join one, wont cure me though, might get us more hooked.
Glen have you thought of putting you pics up on a web page? Think it would be great for people wanting wall paper on there PC. Doing a great job there.

Go to one of the_goldies' posts in this thread, and click on the link in his signature to 'my site' and the pics are posted there. I send them to him and he posts them on his website.
I have thought of doing my own, but don't really have the time or patience!!!

I think Biante would have to stick to the authentic article.
These are all really only VL's with body kits and hot rod wheels.
True Walkinshaws (by the way there is no "G" in Walkinshaw people) are only in Panorama Silver.
Anything else is a fake and HSV would not allow it I am sure.

I know Biante would never make these, but they are nice.
Thanks for correcting us on the 'G'....

Good work Glen; I really enjoyed your photos. Even though I am a Ford man through and through. I have had the pleasure of owning a VL Commodore. I will be honest here and say it is one of the best cars I have owned. It started life as a 6 Cyl Auto until I found bits of metal in the tranny. After looking at the cost of re building the Auto (1800 odd bucks) I found a 5 speed at a local Sydney wreckers and did a change over with him for $950. The conversion worked a treat and I had several fun years driving the VL 5 speed around.
For those who are looking for a VL, Glen is spot on with the costings for a re-spray. $5000 for one would be still at the lower end of the market. I have been tossed figures around the $10,000 for the Mustang but then that is for a damn good paint job. That is unless you go to a One-day auto paint type operation. They used to a 1000 bucks for a quick sand of the old Acrylic paint, a single coat of primer and then a thin coat of colour. Paint looked great for about 6 months then went to crap
Personally I would be looking for the Red Group A. I am sure you could pick one of those up for around the same cost as a restored 6 Cyl VL.

The cheapest quote I got to respray my TX3 in the same colour was $2000. At this price it was a cash only deal, which is fair enough, I'd do the same if I could paint. But I decided even at that price it was still not worth it, as my heart is with Holden and I've been driving around in the 'F' word for a few years now.
I was trying to get some money together for a VS SS, but have decided to go to Germany for the World Rally Championship next year instead. The VS will still be out there when I get back.
