Nick (and those who are interested),
Just picked up this months copy of 'What Car', and have found an advert in the back section For a company in Essex, who are importing New Falcon/Fairmont Sedans and Wagons into the UK.
They are importing 'dedicated LPG' or Dual Fuel versions.
Prices on application, but the 'demo' is on sale at £12k, whick is reasonable.....
(Sorry, but this is quite exciting to those who haven't seen a Falcon in the metal for some years)
Shame they aren't being brought in 'officially' by Ford though....
I would estimate that the 'new costs' would be comparable to the Mondeo (probably why they won't import it 'oficially')
Oh well, back to work.

Is this the company called Verte? For anyone who doesn't know, they sell LPG Falcons with an oval "Verte" badge on the bonnet where the Ford one would be......Very strange. I guess Verte means "green" so they're selling 'em as an eco-friendly car, but I have no idea how or why Ford got involved with a rebadged car!

Nick,
No, its another outfit in Essex, called something weird like 'exotic cars' or something, but they are Fords, not Verte.
I have seen Commodore Berlina's offered for sale as well as 'special imports'.
A V6 Berlina Wagon eqates to £15 (plus shipping and VAT), not bad when we pay that for a Mondeo.....
I'll find out what this company is actually called....

Nick, I forgot to mention,
Colman Milne the Limo maker are also bringing in Ford Fairlanes and (wait for this...), converting them into Wagons....
For those who want a very large, luxury estate car (sorry station wagon, guys).
It was in this weeks 'Auto Express'.

Interesting! I wonder if this is the (very slow) start of Aussie cars taking off in the UK, or whether it's just a continuation of what's been going on since the 60s - tiny numbers imported by select companies and sold to a few discerning individuals? I'd love to see Falcons in bigger numbers over here, but as this government's so car-unfriendly, and petrol prices are getting silly it may never happen. But small numbers does mean that when I do see an XR8 in Oxford, or a GTS on the A40 it gives me a real thrill! When I was out in the Cobra last weekend I saw, just by chance, 2 Corvettes and 2 AC Cobras (I think there was some classic event going on somewhere), and I was really hoping to see either of the 2 Aussie cars I occasionally see. Maybe this coming weekend - it would be awesome to see each other and pull over to compare notes!

Sorry guys for shifting the thread topic here for a moment, but to you Nick, is that your letter, in the brand new 'Unique Cars' magazine here in Australia? It is about Phase 4 Falcons, so I gathered it must be you. If so, congratulations on getting your letter published.
I had a letter published as a Star Letter in 'Unique Cars' about 2 years ago about GT-R Skylines. So I too know the cult of celebrity that builds up around one has a had a letter published in Unique Cars... :D Not!

Apparently so, Andrew, although I wrote to UC in the hope that someone would be able to give me a few details, NOT so it got published! As I have a subscription, and I live on the wrong side of the world, I expect to get my copy in a week or so, and I'll be able to see exactly what I wrote....
And Londoner, I'll check out eco cars - thanks!
