According to Minichamps, next week they will release a 1/43 model of Alan Jones' Williams FW07 from 1979 (430790027). However I can't find any sign of this on the Biante site (searching under Jones or WIlliams). As a minimum I thought it might have appeared as 'scheduled for production'.
Apparently the original car carried sponsorship from the Bin Laden Construction Company (supposedly an uncle of Osama), but due to current sensitivities Minichamps have chosen to delete this particular sponsor from the car. Does anyone have any more information ?

jager..........
The real car is in the YORK motor museum, did you know this?
I'll try and upload a pic but it never works for me......always says its too big?????
Anyway some of the sponsorship was in Arabic......I don't read Arabic.
If the picture does not work visit www.yorkwa.com.au and click the link to the York Motor Museum. They have picks of some of the cars (I have'nt been there....yet!:( )
The FW07 should be in the right hand corner....click on it for stats and bigger pic etc........enjoy;)

Thanks Timbo
The car in York is from 1980 when Jones won the championship, while Minichamps will release the 1979 car. Yes we all want the 1980 car, but I guess Minichamps logic is to first release the less desirable car first so we rush out and buy it, then release the 1980 World Championship car.

This is THE car that I would love to see been modelled by Biante.
What a history and together with the REPCO Brabham this is in my book THE most impotant cars of the F1 australian history
There could be a big demand for this one that has not been modelled before in 1/18, and even in 1/43 has only been done 3 times
another car that is/was there is the torana 5000 with the channel 7 rainbow circle on it 2 door. :)

Hi, I have just bought a set of 1/20 decals for the 1979 car to go on the Tamiya kitset, and noticed the Bin Laden name.

All of the pre-release pictures I have seen of this car show the bin laden name on the side pod in front of the number 27.
The picture included is the side view and the name can been seen when zoomed that may not be possible on this forum bit it is on the car.

Whether it has been changed since I don't know but I doubt it as the pics were only released in August, so if they were not going to use the name they had plenty of time to remove it before hand, anyway I doubt that the name will insite riots or protests over the model.

One theory (rumour ?) doing the rounds at present is the European release will carry the Bin Laden sponsorship but the US release will not.
Assuming this is true (?), will Australia get the version with or without Bin Laden !
