View Full Version : Ultimate sedan
Reading TBX05's thread about whats your favourite car had got me thinking. If there was the "perfect" car out there what do you think it would be?
Perfect in purchase price, resale value, looks, design, safety, feautures, performance. Basically perfect in all functions? While most would consider the most expensive cars the ultimate car I'm counting any exotic cars out considering their high and mostly unreachable prices and theat they can't really stack up as a so called family sedan.
What would you think would be the most perfect sedan?

If money was no object and you wanted four doors (whether sedan or wagon) and a large degree of practicality, then I'd plumb for a Porsche Cayenne Turbo.
But, given your criteria Jess, I reckon you'd be hard-pressed to do better than something from the Subaru Liberty stable.

BMW E30 M3 Sport Evolution. BMW build quality, genuine factory race handling, gorgeous design inside and out, appreciating in value, competition history........I might try and include the Audi Ur quattro although it has only 2 doors, as it has 4WD grip, turbo power, good looks, high quality build..........Mercedes-Benz 190E 2.5-16 Evo 2 for all the same reasons as the BMW..........

Not a sedan but surely a nice car.
An Audi RS4 Estate. 0.100 in 4.7 sec.
Twin Turbo V6, All Wheel Drive and enough room for the kids and a heap of junk for a weekend away.
Lets see a 911 do that.

Nah, the RS6 sedan thanks!
The 911 turbo betters that performance!

I forgot the Mitsubishi Lancer Evo 6 Makinen Edition in red with RalliArt markings! Again a good looking sedan, 4WD, turbo, light and nimble, 4 doors, and no Porsche could keep up with it on the twisties.......
D'oh, and I realised that the BMW M3 in my first thread is a 2 door - I meant the Audi was more of a 2 door coupe than a sedan.......

Bang for Buck$, No Question; Subaru WRX.
If someone is overtaking YOU while you are driving it hard? Go Harder or you cannot drive it propperly.
Only in a straight line road of a long nature has any other car a chance.

Hard question, but if money was no object it would be a BMW 5 series. It has been the best at what it does for so long it's not funny.

cause i love any thing hsv the hrt 427 would be great but i could never afford it, but the subaru wrx wrp10 with it's huges front flared gaurds would be fine
It depends how big the family is. If its two adult & 2 kids I would opt for a 4-door BMW 3 Series 330i as the best all-round including value for money.
Although a mate of mine has a diesel X5 and raves about it. I haven't been in it, but on paper this looks pretty good and well priced too.

BMW M series the one with the V10.
Flick a switch and 373 KW.
Some of these cars would be far from perfect in purchase price!

It sounds like the answer to your question would be Toyota Camry. Probably the biggest selling family car in the world
:)

Sadly not eligible for this poll, but for Audi RS fans like Maximus and TBVX05 how about the new Audi R9 mid-engined car? Or the RS-engined Gumpert Apollo? Stupid name but quite a special car!

YUP! But a wagon for me, please. Even if they DON'T make a wagon in the current version & have never made a 7-seater. Grrrr, Toyota is getting damn arrogant, IMHO.

What is going on??
The Ultimate sedan a Toyota Camry:confused:
More like a 550 Maranello I would think!
One needs at the most only 2 seats, anybody else can follow with the butler/Nanny in a appropreate coach/contraption at an appropreate pace and distance. :p
Iam olny saying this in gest, so PLEASE do NOT jump on wee little me.

I think Toad may agree with you on that one.

ultimate sedan should have four+ seats and preferably 4 doors. Bring on the Camry.

OK, it has 4 doors......but so does an XD Falcon......what else makes the Camry the "ultimate sedan"?
hmmm...let me think about that. Can I get back to you after I think of something. SHoudl only take a year or two.

Easy answer: Bums on Seats. Sales, sales & more sales. Toyota's laughing all the way to the bank.

If it were money no object then a M5 in Blue, but as i have just bought what i consider to be the best Family car i could afford then its a Commodore Equipe Wagon in Blue ( just like the one in the add )
Has heaps of space, is economical seat 5 with ease and take the luggage for everyone of them too.
