Posting pictures

Does anyone have any advice on re-sizing pics to post on the forum?
I sort of know how to do it but I have noticed that by the time I have reduced the size to meet the requirements for posting,the pics are so bloody small ,you can hardly see them!!
Admin,is there any way that some kind of auto-resize feature can be added similar to that on the photobucket albums?
I'm sure there are a lot of people who ,like me.are not overly great on computers and would greatly appreciate any help.

Don' t post pictures as Bitmaps (bmp), save or convert pictures to JPG.

Use a program called irfanview. Look for it at downloads.com or google it... Has a resize function and can then save it at 80% or so with hardly any noticeable decrease in quality.
