There are 2 conflicting press releases on the V8 wesite about these wristbands. The first release on the 7th says that the bands can be bought from Super Cheap Auto, KFC or Shell outlets from the 9th. The Press release on the 9th has no mention of this at all.
Has anyone purchased a wristband from those retail stores?

I went into my local SCA on the 9th and they had no idea what i was on about. So i arranged with a mate to get some from Sandown for me.

Yeah I initially saw the same press release but nowhere lately has it said that KFC or SCA would have them and even on the webpage related to them it does not. Went into a SCA and they know nothing of them. It seems the only way to order them is through AVESCO who will only sell them in batches of 3 (eg 3 large ford, 3 large holden, 3 small ford, 3 small holden) at $3 plus $2 total postage and they have to be mail order. So by this way of administering it I think it shall be a flop as they are not readily available, it involves mail order, you cannot get mixed orders and you have to wait nearly 2 weeks before you get them. One has to wonder why KFC and SCA haven't got behind it properly. Might look out for them on ebay hopefully some smart schmuck might sell them for $5 BIN with free postage and do us all a service.....

I think that the way they are selling them now is a joke. It is better to buy retail. Its a shame because UNICEF is a worthwhile charity. Wonder what caused the backfilp. With doing it through the mail in sets of 3 is pointless. I only want one for myself. It will cost me $11 plus the mail order or cheque, which cost $20 i think to get individually. for $9 of $31 going to charity its not worth it.

I know it's being cynical, but, seems like another good original concept that somebody with the IQ of a letterbox has been put in charge of !!?

Don't get me wrong. This is a fantastic concept for one of the best intrnational charities. I guess they put the orders through the net so that fans will select that extra donation option which they wouldn't do if they bought retail, therefore raising more money, which is the overall goal. The cost is the sales of more bands though retail. My guess is that in the last week or two a press release will come out saying the bands will be sold retail, therefore finding the comprimise of selling retail or net only.
