Now that the AFL nonsense is over, it's time for a REAL Grand Final.:) I couldn't be happier (since my Raiders & Broncos are out of it) that 2 teams like these (Cowboys & Tigers) are going to fight it out. Should be a great, free-flowing game. Happy, too that those arrogant Dragons got their tails wupped, not to mention Parra. Bring on the G.F!:D
PS: One day I'll get a Bris. vs Canberra GF, or NQ vs Mel., or Newcastle vs Gold Coast etc etc.

Wow, all the top 3 never made it.....but i have to say it will be a great grand final both teams are fantastic to watch...the Tigers Saints game was a ripper
The Cowboys played great, but Parra were never in it from the start
I do not care who wins both have done a fantastic job to get there....... great footy
Go the Tigers. Should be a great rematch of the first play off game where the Tigers gave the Cowboys a 50-6 drubbing.

Go The TIGERS.
I'am Dire hard Mighty Panthers fan, but I have to say that my money is now on the WEST Tigers.
I have $1000.00 on the tigers to take out the GF and got odds of 40/1 .
Tigers are looking real good if NQ don't learn how to hang onto the ball. How many knock-ons?
I hope NQ do learn - I find mistake-ridden games enormously frustrating.

Never got into Rugby League, much prefer Union, none of that daft 6 tackle rule.
AFL is still the National game and always will be imho.
Good to see there will be a new premier in the NRL this year though.

Must be something to do with the blue and yellow colours that makes teams choke:)

But VXfan,
Eagles didn't choke. They were just as good as the Swans. Michael O'lachlan was a shocker. He sprayed every kick.

Stop turning this into an "Aussie-no-rules thread",
there talking about League. My team went down to the Tigers, dam referee.
There no way Barret was held in that tackle!!

Now now Nates,as much as I'm not a fan of league, lachlan is correct and this IS supposed to be a thread on league.
Does anyone else reckon that a Sunday night Grand Final is a bit weird?Gonna be a lot of Tigers/Cowboys fans off work on Monday morning:)
It hasnt always been on a Sunday night has it?Why did they change?

It was moved to Sunday night about 5 years ago as the following Monday is a public holiday in N.S.W.

In Victoria we don't here much on Rugby.
Do you in NSW and Queensland get alot of AFL carry on?

Traditional Bathurst weekend!
Doesn't work if it's an interstate team like the Cowboys though or is it a public holiday in QLD?

Only a public holiday in N.S.W. But, if the cowboys do win on Sunday, I think that North Qld might just declare the Monday a Public Holiday to cope with the hangover.

In the AFL thread I said exactly that - AFL is the "National Game". However, in NSW & Qld. AFL occupies a similar position to the one that Rugby League does in Victoria. That is, very secondary.
Speaking as one who - through the joys of a RAAF childhood - got to play all 4 codes of "Football", all are great games in their own right. League, however is my personal favourite. My Dad, on the other hand - a born & bred Queenslander - converted wholly & solely to VFL when we were posted down to Sale, Vic. in the '60's. He's not watched League since, except when I'd badger him into taking me to watch Easts (Roosters) play Penrith when we landed in RAAF Richmond, NSW.
Back to the GF. I reckon the Tigers will take it out, but being a born Queenslander I really hope that the Cowboys pull it off. Why the Tigers tip? Simple. Their Coach. Tim Sheens has been there, done that more than once, with the mighty "Green Machine".

Well, much as I wanted Nth Qld to win it, my tip was right. Great game from the Tigers, their defence really nullified the Cowboy's playmakers. What about the "scrapheap" Coach, Tim Sheens, fired by Nth Qld a few years ago? Five Grand Finals for Four Wins. Amazing!:)
Apparently there have been 7 different Grand Final winners in the last 7 years and the winners for the last 4 years didn't even make the top 8 this year.
Great to see a sport that isn't dominated by 1 team. Makes it way more interesting.
Theres hope for the Warriors yet:D

It was change to Sunday Night to fit in with the rest of the FN world, just like the super cheap 1000.
Dont bother asking us in Australia what we want!
