Bathurst/AFL & Channel 10

Last year Mr Cochrane & co informed us the Bathurst race would return to the October long weekend due to the coinciding AFL grand final, well once again we've been let down, the grand final was 2weeks before The Great Race is scheduled, channel 10 dont have any sporting commitments on the long weekend so when can we expect to see a return to its original date

This is a very good question.
The long weekend just doesn't seem right without Bathurst.
On the flip side Bathurst is strange still not back on the long weekend.

Maybe someone knows something that we don't ?

I forgot to mention, earlier this year i sent an email to an address on the V8 supercar website, was given a reply,cant remember exactly, but i do know they were unable to give a direct answer why

I know what you are saying. I have asked a couple of questions in the last 6 months or so with very average if not poor responses.

The most resent - I was asking for some full placings/results for some old rounds of the championship and was told that they didn't keep any of this information. I do find that hard to believe. Maybe it's just too hard to get out of the archives. But they didn't tell me this. Just Don't have it, don't keep it.

G'day all.
I'm no expert but doesn't Network Seven own the rights to broadcasting any motor race at Bathurst on the October long weekend.If my memory serves me right, AVESCO wanted the Ten Network to telecast the V8s not Seven so IMG & AVESCO did a deal with the Bathurst city council to run a separate race for the V8s one or two weeks after the traditional date that the Mount Panorama Consortium ran(Consorttium comprising of the Bathurst City Council,ARDC which owns the pit complex & Network Seven broadcasting rights).I could be wrong I'm sure someone will let me know :rolleyes:

There's a good reason Bathurst is 2 weeks after the AFL Grand final and Blame the NRL.
Tony Cohrane didn't want Bathurst to clash on the same weekend as the NRL Grand final which is this LONG WEEKEND so lets hope the NRL go back to having thier Grand final the day after the AFL's.

Good point SWRT, makes sense, however i still recall there was some conflict with Channel 10 due to the AFL & their broadcasting???
