View Full Version : Premature SBR BF Falcon?

In AutoAction #1160, Ross Stone was interviewed about the team's new BF Falcon being built for next year. It was mentioned that this new car is on stand-by in case Marcos's or Russell's BAs are "extensively damaged" before the season ends. "We can finish it pretty quickly if we need to." said Stone.
Question now is - has that #1 BA's shunt been bad enough to call for the premature completion of the BF? With only 2 weeks to go before Indy, is it worth repairing the BA?
If they decide to roll the BF out, will it sport BA cosmetics? Would SBR be allowed to run the BF this season? The last time a new model was brought out mid season as i recall was 1998 when Murph debuted the VT at Calder. But then again, the change from VS to VT was a massive one.
This would easily be the biggest crash the current #1 BA has had in its 3 years of competition. Will we see Marcos steer a BF before he leaves?

well given the fact that there is not much difference between the BA and BF the Stones will no doubt have the technology to use it as a BA....as i dont think the BF spliter and wings have been approved for racing yet and the Stones have plenty of BA bits
Remeber at Tassy last year skaife used the teams new 2005 commodore, just with the 04 cars bumpers.
I think some one said that the Stones will fix the car anyway but we'll see - hopefully the car will never be the same :D

I think SBR will probaly get the new BF out.
Whether they ll be able to run the BF bodykit, we ll see, but i think they will use it.
I dont think they ll bother will re-constrcuting the BA, especially when they said after this year they were going to retire the car and restore if for historical reasons

They will not run the BF body kit as i do not think has been finalised.....dont forget the BF doesn't get released till November when the championship ends, last i heard Ford wants a new front spliter like the holden's, Ford thinks has a downforce advantage at Bathurst so i think they are still working out everything and with project blue print the days of a car maker introducing a new car mid season are over, no matter how small the changes are
like i said before skaife ran the 2005 commodore in the last 2 rounds last year but had to run it in VY body work,
then again there could be no difference with the BF....then they would be running a BF early :D

It's going to be hard to run an untested car given how close the championship is at the moment, however at the same time who know how good the car will be after the repair, I think it'a catch 22 for SBR. I would repair the old car.

Ross or Jimmy have said in a press release on the V8 Supercar web site that they will have the number 1 car repaired in time for Indy.
Cheers

I thought it was amazing that channel 10 showed the BF (deal) lapping Bathurst, it looked the same as the BA. I would rather have seen the other entertainment than a paid promotion of a not so new looking car. I wonder how much it cost Ford for the one lap advert.
