hi all,
just brought home a video about the history of the commodore (well actually the last 21 years 1979-2000) at the race track.
has anyone else seen this video? the title of it is "Commodore 21 1980-2000, The Bathurst Years".
whilst it focased on the commodore, it did show some footage of the greens tuf and true blue (amonst others) that biante recently released. this was the first time i actually saw these vehicles in the flesh (so to speak).
i then thought it was a bit strange that whilst these vehicles did not actually win bathurst why have they been given (undue?) attention from biante.
the video also stated that commodores have won 13 out of the last 21 years at the mountain. why then isnt there a more focus given on the commodore at the mountain. not just the latest VT/VX series but the likes of the great group c cars.
even the pommy jag (with its 1-2 finish) got a mention. anything happening for that?

I haven't seen the video George, but I've seen the Bathurst history set of videos, which are also now available on DVD individually or as a set.
Biante's interest in the XD and XE Falcons is I imagine based on their interest in Dick Johnson and Allan Moffat.
Their sole Holden interest ( re. signature series ) appears to be Peter Brock, so I expect we'll eventually see some Grp C and/or Grp A Commodore models one day.
As for the Jags, they came 1st and 3rd in 1985, and I understand that Biante will be doing the winning John Goss XJS at some time in the future.

i think the group c commodore would be the ones to build. like the 1-2 finish of the falcon this set would sell like hot cakes.
one thing about the video i did like is that they showed some of the cars in real life that i have in model form.
like i said, seeing the greens tuff and true blue (for the first time) as an example was great. although i havent got those two it just made me appreciate the effort biante have gone to make them as real as possible.
i have most of the holdens (commodores) that featured in the video including the early ones. my son who also watched the video with me also related to the video as he knows what models i have and now could see them racing around bathurst.
i guess you could call it an educational video........

1. Certain cars do not have to win Bathurst to be given "undue" attention.
2. Tru Blu did win Bathurst
3. The other Tru Blu "Rock" CAR is collectable for that accident.
4. The Tru Blu XDs are collectable because - a) people like Dick Johnson; b) People do like FORDS.
5. The Greens Tuf "Tree" car, again are collectable because of the above.
6. There is a thing called the Dick Johnson Collection for people who like the opportunity to buy these cars.

Bathurst 1980 - 14 C'Dores to 8 Falcons
1981 - 12 C'dores to 10 Falcons
1982 - 15 C'dores to 10 Falcons
1983 - 18 C'dores to 10 Falcons
1984 - 19 C'dores to 10 Falcons
1985 - 20 C'dores to 4 Mustangs
1986 - 22 C'dores to 3 Mustangs/1 Sierra
1987 - 15 C'dores to 6 Sierra's
1988 - 18 C'dores to 12 Sierra's
1989 - 19 c'dores to 17 Sierra's
Given equal distribution of makes then it would have been interesting to see the outcome of Bathurst winners.
The 70's were even worse where for example in 1976 there were only 3 XB GTs vs 12 L34's Torana's in class D.
The figures above were taken out of Australia's Greatest Motor Race 1960 - 1989
