G'day all,
for those interesting in these games there is now a demo available for the 3rd instalment of this game.
Can't say I'm a fan of them (not realistic enough for me), but it's not bad for the little kiddies to have a laugh with on their ps2, etc.....
cheers :)

Not long after I purchased V8 SC 2 I had on ebay getting rid of it. For me, GTR is the best racing sim game at the moment. I havnt played GT Legends yet, but Ive heard its really good as well.

To all the experts what is the best driving/ racing game that is realistic in handling and damage.
The reason i say that is i find the v8 supercar 2 ok with realisum in damage but the field is always bunched up. you could go off in a spin lose 10 seconds, catch up to the pack and the leader is only about 100m ahead of second last place.
And GT4 has a great variety of cars but no damage.

Inter, GTR is pretty good with damage and the Handling is very good. Nascar 2003 is also very good. GT legends is very good but damage is ordinary, lol, i hit a wall in the Mini at about 75 mph and kept going, lol after id rolled, lmao.... Apart from that its very good and i can overlook that prob, lol....
GT Legends has great variety from racing a Falcon Sprint against the Alfas, Lotus Cortina's, Stangs and Minis to name a few to running a Cobra agaisnt Corvettes, Lotus Elan's, E Type jags, GT40s and even TVRs, lol to name a few. If you like the cars of the 70s you could run a Cologue Capri or a Escort MK1 or a Bimmer, 911, 914 or 906 Porsche. If you like a V8 just run a Vette or impersonate Rusty French and race the Pantera ;)......

Inter, GTR is about a year old although it did'nt reach OZ until about May. its very hard to get here now however if you go here, http://www.gpstore.co.nz/Games/PC-Games/Simulation/Driving/
they will get it out to you in about a week or soo. They also have GT legends if you cannot get that here....

I think it dempends upon what sort of pc you are running. I have had some expirence (10 round league at Red Mist Racing (http://www.redmist.com.au) in a hyperstimulator) with N2003's Trams-Am patch and it is quite realistic in terms of driving.
If you have a current or near new pc, then GTR is defantely worth a look, but it is very Ram, memory and processor intensive.
I'm yet to see GT Legends, but I suspect it should be very good as it's basically GTR with older cars.
cheers :)

Is there anyone on these forums that knows how to add new tracks to GTR? Ive heard there people that have made/created famous tracks including Aussie ones to add the GTR game. It would be fantastic belting around the old Adelaide F1 circuit in a GT2 Corvette.

Tander, its very easy to add tracks. In GTR, you just put them in the gamedata/locations folder..... Most of the addon tracks have the location path so its pretty easy to do.
Adelaide isnt too flash, but Sandown, Hidden Valley, Barbagallo, Willowbank and Oran Park are great. Many of the tracks are F1C conversions as are many of the new cars that are being added to the game....
For the V8 Fans the guys who made the V8 mod for F1C and GTR are making one for RFactor. This will feature the V8s, The Ute Series, Group C cars from 1975 and the Aussie Racers. RFactor is very good and is great for online racing if its your thing....
As for PC specs, Mine isnt that flash, but i run 55 cars at SPA and the old Nurburgring on GTR. I have a Pentium 2.4, 1024 meg ram and a GForce 6600 GT, think the video card saves the day. I dont have the hi res graphic mode on but the cars still look great. I was a little worried about GT legends being a newer game but it plays it fine. It was actually the latest 70 Grand National mod for NR2003 that was a frame rate killer, lol..........

Might be time to invest in a copy of F1 Challenge and download the Group C patch :D

HRT Tim I'm having the same problem. Even after installing the required DLL file no luck. Seems there is an issue with the windows XP you (and I) run. In the files installed on your computer you will see one called "read Me" do that and see what you make of it.

I also have had probs running games on my pc with XP especially after superpack 2 (or whatever it is called) came out. I was furious. I had Ford Racing 2 and I loved it and racked up heaps of cars and tracks and then went to play and it will install and recognise it is there but won't run it. I even got rid of XPSP2 and that did not fix it as some data was obviously added to SP1 that was not removed so that sux.....:(

Like the previous version I can not download the demo due to my graphics card not being supported... Will see what it is like on the PS2 before I get it... I am not even half way through Gran Turismo 4, not enough hours in teh day/night to play.

Must admit some of the shots on the web site look pretty cool though.
Well seems the demo killed my graphics card - Leadtek Nvidia 6600GT PCI Express
After the install I started on my first lap, just about to the 3rd corner and "what tha @$#& happened" - the screen went a yellow colour in a diagonal sort of pattern.
Had to reboot and now when I play any 3D game I have "artifacts" all over the screen (little squares of all different colours where they are not supposed to be)
It's impossible to play any driving, shooting (3D) type of games now
Had the comp for just over a year with no probs, but this has me beat. Done all the driver updates etc to no avail
I'm guessing the vid cards carcked it = more money

the sim mode is like an acrcade mode (go figure)
the pro sim mode (which see's you leaving tyre marks from your front tyres at every corner slow or fast) features more realistic speeds (cant belive i used the word realistic)
the baja dirt racing is cool though, just a pity the touring car section is either stupid or arcadish.
on the good side, bathurst finally looks like bathurst except for some bits here and there.
