Looks good Biante :)
Guys (fellow forumers) you might want to just have a quick look in your Watchlist to see if all your cars are there or not.
There was about 4 out of the 30 or so cars that was missing from my Watchlist, but i've gone through the list and put them back in, so no big problem. Apart from that it all looks pretty good.

There is only one Section that is missing from the site, No members only Section therefore, no means of checking the points accrued should one wish to use points rather than cash to pay for your purchases:(

You can see that info once you've logged in!
Not only has the watchlist been affected, there seems to be quite a bit of stock missing:confused: Or is work still continuing on the site?
Aside from that, the site looks good!
Nice home page. I look forward to investigating further. Things have been a bit hectic around here lately.

Sorry about that MclarenFan, that was my fault (i'd jumped the gun). I'd logged in to the watchlist and i noticed that every time you want to go the next page you have to re-login, so after looking at my list i wrote down what i thought i was missing and then went to the search to see if they were still in the biante system (like HRT said, i looks like some of the stock wasn't listed) but the 4 i was looking for were there (i think that some of the stock has been renamed, like the Team Brocks car are now listed under Bright and Weel, and not Brock). Anyway cos you have to login every time i thought bugger-it, i'll come back later and put them in the watchlist, so come back to forum. Anyway i went back later and like you said there is no watchlist button at the moment. So i've just got them writen down for now. Sorry fellas My Bad!

A thought - cos the site is close for xmas the Add to Watchlist has been turned off. I just assumed that because i was searching while not being logged in that Add to Watchlist didn't appear.

Log in on the main page, then click on My Watchlist, then when the page come up saying its invalid just go straight to the left hand side and log in again and when your watchlist should appear. (i hope) ;)
Alright i'm out of here, have a great day everyone.

Yes the site has undergone some major changes but will be fully up and running by 9th January 2006. The watchlist should be working and as wacpt mentioned you will need to delete your cookies. The site is on a new server and is completly new site not just a re-style. It may be to do with the DNS still changing.
Example, This is the first I have been able to access the forum form home I still get the old website.
Also the database is currently using an almost correct version not the fully correct version so don't worry about watchlist items we have all of your watchlist nothing has been lost. I personally have gone through a number of them cross referenced them and they are there.
More information will become available once the DNS has fully made its way around the net. Any problems you do find post in here and we will attend to.
If you notice products missing and or in funny categories please post here so that we can look into them.
Thank you.

Be aware that if you delete your Cookies you will have to log into all the sites you visit (like the Biante Forum and Collectors Club) the next time you visit them (ie. the sites won't remember you). Once you've logged in, you should be ok the next time.

I have only just been able to access the site from home. I have tested a few peoples account. It does appear to show that you are logged out the first time you login in but navigate a couple of pages and then it appear to be fine.
Found perhaps another bug, searched the wrecks section, it gave me a list of all scales, even though I selected 1:18, and all sold out wrecks items (which it says doesn't exist when you click on them)
apart from that i like the new design.

The other way is to install a cache & cookie washer. We got one off a "PC User" Mag complimentary disc. Works beautifully. Washing 1200-odd files is commonplace. The free Ad-Blocker, Anti-Spyware software available is good insurance, too.

Contstructive Feedback is good, being a programmer, we need this info and bugs can be annoying to the users, but since today is the first non-public holiday since the change over, maybe a bit of consideration wouldn't go astray. I havent been a part of this but I definately know what its like to be on their side of the fence trying to sort these little problems out.

Nathan, I was typing in the word first and then moving the cursor over to the scale button, and it wasn't working. Once the search facility had found 5000 models it would then allow me to refine my search by scale.

This is indicative of cacheing. Everytime you visit a site, pages are cached to enable fast loading next time you visit it. This cacheing can occur on you machine and also on your ISP's proxy server.
On your machine, if you are using IE, go to TOOLS-Internet Options and in the general tab under Temporary Interent files, click delete files.
In firefox, go to tools, options/privacy/cache and click cache.
This will get rid of all the downloaded pages etc of your system. The next time the page loads maybe a bit slower the first time as it refreshes all the pages. If the pages are being stored on the ISP proxy server, this will clear over time.
Being able to get it right at work not home is because of differnet machines and ISP's

Whilst I'm at it, 10/10 for the new "Watchlist" format !!! :)

Another couple of glitches:
1. You cant add an item onto your watch list
2. There are mistakes with the category listing of the watchlist. For example, there is a 'Formula 1' heading on my watchlist and it shows Biante Racing Legends cars underneath.
Hopefully these can be fixed by the 9th.

Hi Nathan,
Looking good.
Another 'teething problem'.
When I use the Find A Model, I can no longer use "australia develop" or "australia transit" or "australia production" to find the australian models. It shows 0 (zero) results.
Will this be rectifed? or is there a workaround?
PS: I also have the same problem as TBVX05 and V8SS. My watchlist headings are completely stuffed. eg most of my australia cars appear under ENGINE.

Are looking into the watchlist issue. Appears to just be a mistake with the query. The products are in the correct categories on the website so it is only the watchlist that has this problem.
Items that were sold out and still on your watchlist have been removed. This is a tidy up task that will be done for all sold out items in the future also.
Will look into the other points also.

This is not a feature that we know worked before. If it was something that worked it was from pure luck because it was not designed in that way. This is not something that has been built into the new site to search on availbility status.

Most of my watchlist cars are in the wrong categories, but the last one of each category is correct! So I'll have a load of DTM cars listed as "Le Mans", but the very last car in the category will be a Le Mans car. Then the next category will be headed "rally cars" but will actually be the rest of my Le Mans cars, with the last one being a rally car. Then the next category is listed as "Road car" but will be the rest of my rally cars, except the last one which will be a road car! And so on.
And I have several entries on the watchlist that have no picture and no title, just a number. When you click on it the details come up, but as listed there is no information. Models that have no picture usually at least say what they are, but these entries don't even give that.
Nick Short
04-01-2006, 08:07 AM
Finally, I am still having trouble with the "Find a model" function that Nathan insisted I was wrong about! I enter, say, "falcon" and then move across to the scale button, and the words "please select" are written in mauve and the button is completely inoperational. If I click back to the home page and try again I sometimes find that "please select" is now written in black and the button is fine, otherwise I have to call up all scales and then search by scale afterwards.
Nick Short
04-01-2006, 08:13 AM
When the button works correctly I notice that it is inoperational when the entry box is blank, and when I type in just one letter it remains inoperational, but after typing a second letter the mauve script turns black and the button works. There must be a bug that sometimes makes the button remain inoperational and "please select" to stay mauve.

So to ask the question, how would we update this from the old one to the new one, is it just a matter of refreshing or do we have to actually do something ???
many thanks :)

You will need to get your IT guy to delete the cached files. The education dept. Not sure if they are running local proxy servers or they go through a central server. I know in WA, they have a global internet network with all internet going through a cluster of centralised proxy servers.
Best you ask your IT guys

I too find this to be a bit of a bug bear especially as a lot of my watch list is the minicars and when a bulk pack etc is released it does take some time to remove the ones I've just bought.

At the bottom of the PM page (where you tick the boxes) is a box marked 'Move to folder...' - Click on the arrow in the box and a range of options comes up, one of them being delete.

I know what you mean though, even some pm's that I received yesterday can not be read on this new forum, so perhaps it's just a glitch between the two programs.
I think once the word goes out and people realise they need to delete all those headings things will return to what we used to know as normal.

Good to see a bit more colour, the blue was abit boring after awhile.
Admin is it possible to get a classified section up on the forum. I know there is the auction site but with a few posts lately refering to people selling there collection maybe it might be worthwhile adding this feature.

No I can't, I just tried looking at an old thread http://forums.biante.com.au/showthread.php?t=1561 which had a lot of pictures and they don't appear to be there anymore

I don't know about the site looking better... The colours are all over the place now, sorry, but it looks terrible. Maybe the red needs a gardient in it like what the blue had?? Have to agree with Brad about the orange as well... I just hope there are more colour changes and this is just the start -- sorry guys.
The BIANTE logo looks like it has been resized from a smaller image as it looks pixellated.

Fantastic Nathan, I know it's not a lot but the return of the colour red does seem to make the place look a lot like home again ;)
Also the Biante logo also now appears to be an appropriate size as the previous one looked a little over enlarged. Would it be possible to put a HOME link back on the forum so that we can jump back onto the Biante homepage, lie the old one used to do ?
One thing I am struggling to do Nathan, can we on do links to websites like we used to where we could have text showing on the page instead of the ulr, like what some of us have done in our signatures ?
Keep up the good work as it is appreciated.

Hi Nathan , in the find a model section I used to find wanted models and track their progress with typing in categories such as production planned , development approved and in production etc which really helped me plan my purchases and know what models were coming and roughly when , but unfortunately when I type in the categories mentioned it says " 0 products found " and I wanted to know whether these categories will be functional again as they were in the past .
The in transit section does help but these other categories were of great assistance too and complemented the in transit listing that you also provide on the website .

I used to type the categories I listed in the Keywords part of quick search , never had a problem on the old website and they always came up no problems .
did anyone else use to do this as it was the best way of knowing what was in the pipeline , I can't believe I can no longer do this because it was the best way of not missing out on up and coming models and allowed me plenty of time to pre-order models without missing out . :(

Definately was always on there Nathan...
How else does one find out what is in Production without searching through an entire list!
What if one is on holidays and misses a model put into the Just added section?
On the old website, one would search for eg "Lowndes In Production" or "Lowndes Planned"...
Why have the different categories IF they are not searchable?
Regards

castcrazy,
I used to use the following search words and they worked brilliantly.
"australia develop" "australia production" and "australia transit"
Nathan told me earlier in this thread, "This is not a feature that we know worked before. If it was something that worked it was from pure luck because it was not designed in that way. This is not something that has been built into the new site to search on availbility status."
They did work and it's a pity that they don't anymore.
