My son came home with some crackers the other day. These crackers have no wick, only a coloured plug in one end. Do we light the plug end with a lighter or what? Does anyone know what the go is?

do they have a paper wick by any chance? one must remember these products are made in china therefore they use the lowest grade materials available and there would also be no quality control.. BEWARE. ie go down the backyard and set one off with nobody else around, and have a fast pair of shoes..

I have seen these before and you light the coloured bulb type end and get rid of it bloody quick , these are heaps louder than the conventional bangers so be aware of this .
Personally I would be vary weary of this type of "Supposed" firework as without looking at these personally it's also possible that these could be a form of detonator , this may appear as an over-reaction but better to be cautious I think .
BE CAREFUL , until your sure of how these work place the firework on the ground in an open space and light the end of a stick or use something long to light it so that your a distance away .
Depending on what state you live in they could be illegal to use or posess so take that into consideration as to when and where you decide to let them off , Fireworks can be great fun , it's just a pity they were outlawed in some states just because of some irresponsible clowns failed to realise how dangerous fireworks can be .

You light the end with the flint on the side of a box of matches or just use a lighter. Light it and get rid of it quick!!!! The bigger ones are really powerfull, be careful......

15247,
just to clarify for you, these style of crackers have been around for a while and can either be lit or struck like a match.
The phosphorous wicks burn for a steady 5 secs. These are far superior to the old type of wicks which had no consistency at all.

Thanks Tex. I worked it out. But i still prefer the wicks. At least you know how much time you've got to get rid of it.
