It is with deep sadness that we have to announce the passing of Trevor Young.

We lost Trevor after a short illness on Monday night the 2nd January 2006.

Funeral details will be published in tomorrows West Australian newspaper.

Whilst Trevor will be sorely missed, he ensured that he has put together a team of people here at Biante that are just as committed to continuing on with the company's vision as he was.

We will be closed on Monday to attend the funeral.

Please post your messages of condolences here.

I never met Trevor and never spoke to him. We did share some emails back and forth over the years though.

I didn't know he was sick so it is a total shock. I hope Bev had a little more time to prepare than we did.

Trevor, your memory will live on. My office is a shrine to your work. I can't not look around and think of you.

May you be forever remembered as the man that had the foresight and vision to predict that Australians wanted more than a 1/43 somewhat similar representation of their motoring heritage.

I hope your 1:1 scale collection is turned into a museum of motoring history and it is continually added to and displayed for the people of WA and the rest of the world to come and see.

Rest in peace.

I am also shocked and deeply saddened to hear this news. My sincerest sympathy goes to Bev and all at Biante.

As can be seen by the number of people on this forum, Trevor and Bev have created a wonderful niche with their Biante products, and have drawn a lot of people into this hobby.

Trevor also gave me one of the highlights of my life, the ride with Peter Brock in the XU1 Torana. I'll never forget those 3 laps around Eastern Creek.

RIP Trevor.

Extreamly sad news.
Trevor was a great man, I met him quite a few times from the early Biante dinners in Melbourne for the GP, On business trips to Perth I would catch up with Trevor and Bev, They even invited me around for dinnner.
I am sure Trevor enjoyed the NZ red wines and would bring him.
It is a great loss.

I'm so sorry to hear this - my best wishes go to Bev in particular, and of course everyone else who knew him. Trevor was intrumental in creating a whole world of model collecting for Australian fans, and I can thank him for getting me into Aussie motorsport 12000 miles away. The Biante brand opened up the interest and created a greater depth than magazines and previous diecast could have done.

Deepest sympathies to Bev at this sad time, and also to all those at Biante who had the pleasure of working with Trev. I only met him a few times, but his passion for cars and motor-racing was right up there with the best of them.

As others have already said a little bit of Trev will live on in thousands of display cabinets in loungerooms and on desk tops in offices around Australia (and the World for that matter) for many years to come.

Deepest sympathy to Bev on the truly sad loss of Trevor,

I had the pleasure of meeting Trevor and Bev on a couple of occasions and i find this news of Trevors passing quite hard to come to terms with.
Trevors legacy lives on in countless thousands of homes/ offices & model shops across the world not to mention ebay, which i only happened to be thinking of only the other morning when the chanel 7 sunrise program had an item on how addictive ebay can be . and biante thou not mentioned has a high amount of items registered. not bad i thought for a West Australian company. bet Trevor and co never thought the demand for their product would reach these amazing heights on the development of the track red xygtho.
to Richard , Nathan and all the staff at Biante . and to Gary and staff at Triking please accept my condolences on this truly sad loss

Rich told me that he had commenced this thread.
I had a few moments this evening to visit. I can only say that I am so blown away by all your kind messages. Thank you so much.

I have also been overwhelmed by the kindness shown by many people in the past few days.

I would like to invite our collectors to Trevor's memorial service next Monday. Amazing and kind people have organised something that will be a true celebration of his life, which we would love to share with as many folk as possible.

The title 'admin' will be retired from this forum shortly ( as soon as our it folk change my pc!!!)

Thanks also to all the people who have sent in tributes and messages. The phones at home have been busier than the office when the site used to go down.

Hope you like the new look site that our dedicated guys worked so hard on. Trevor did get to see it briefly

One can hardly add to the numerous messages already here. They sum up a man who catapulted Australia's model market. The value and detail on models from all Australian companies has only lifted as a result of the efforts of the Big T.

His presence on the forums will be sorely missed and one hopes that Biante will only continue to grow in memory of a forefront leader who dedicated time and passion into a business for the collectors.

Hats off to Trev

Deepest condolances to Bev, the Young family and everyone at Biante.
Barbara and I are saddened by the lose of the great man. We were very fortunate that living in Perth enabled us to share some quality times with him over these past six or so years.
I'd take any opportunity to pick his brain and he'd always oblige - he loved it. He loved cars and motorsport and his passion for model car collecting and his subsequent creation of Biante is the reason I too now collect.
I, like many others who have sent messages to this thread, will always think of Trevor when admiring my collection.
RIP Trev,

Yours Sincerley,

I worked with Bev and Trevor at Biante many years ago, not long after they first began under that trading name. They looked after me very well. It was the retail that I wanted to get into, and I finally did. Trevor was happy to see my dream come true. All is well with my model shop, but unfortunatly internet sales make it hard for us model car shops.

As did I,
memories of Trevor.
The red shoes, sitting on a wall at Barbagallo having a chicken roll with Richard and another gentleman talking models.
I had the chance to get a great photo of this but didn't.
only to find out later that the other guys with Trevor would have loved to had a photo with him but never did.
The funeral many greats of motorsport gathered in a beautiful setting with 4 icon motor vehicles nearby, red shoes and a black FX model taking pride of place on the casket with Trevor looking down from a magic portrait.
still have the packet of sunflower seeds that were given out.
maybe I should plant them in the garden at biante.
hey Bev if you are reading I'm Thinking of you and the staff at biante.

We shore do remember.

I loved looking at Trevor and Bev’s collection at the Biante HQ when I was over there for the WRC one year. You could really see there love for the hobbie.

Bev have you ever thought of putting your models and cars on display again for the general public to see where it all started. You must have some great models packed away.

19-01-2010, 09:38 PM
There are enquiries being made for a suitable place for many of the models/prototypes to be displayed for all to see. When it finally happens, will let everyone know.

Forgot to mention in my previous post that yesterday would have been Trevor's 65th birthday. Would he have retired?... think not. Loved his cars too much.

Time sure flies, I remember going to Trevor's funeral and chatting with one Peter Brock, he was looking at the Holden 215 model as he had just been to Goodwood, now he's also gone. One quote I thought was pretty apt from Brocky was that he said in discussing taking people for a ride in race cars "I would not go for a ride with me". Perhaps he foresaw someting?

65 and retired that is something that I think never would have happened,
Thou I did not know Trevor as well as others.
He was passionate about his model cars and anything he was associated with,
I still remember Trevor cringing when I got Allan Moffat to sign a model car at Barbagallo raceway in i believe 2004.

Loved his red racing shoes they even graced his coffin and raised a mention by Brocky when he did one of the eulogies on that beautiful January day in 2006 at Pinnaroo cemetery.
how many people could bring together such a marvellous collection of Australian motoring legends and others with much respect.
It really seems like yesterday to me.

I pass biante quite a few times in any given week and vividly remember the Chrysler coupe parked at the front whilst most other vehicles parked in the side car park.

would dearly love to be able to turn the clock back for quite a few reasons.
however I do know this can never happen!

Have not seen Bev since Targa West 2007
however saw Richard and John only 2 weeks ago

I still have my packet of sunflower seeds that were handed out at the funeral.
may even plant a seed in the garden at biante:)

Trev I hope you and Brocky have solved the problems of the racing world.
Rest Peacefully guys

I thought Kylie was your style Grae

It's a bit like model cars and the real things upon which they are based ... I appreciate the classics to a large degree because I grew up with them, but at the same time I like to think I can see merit in the new models ... I guess Kylie falls into a category somewhere between, not quite a classic, but still mighty appealing ... and in respect to this forum thread, I'd guess Trevor would've been happy to engage her as a 'Biante Premium' model too.

Will catch up with 'murf' and 'Garry' today for a chin-wag ... and likely some reflections on how things used to be. It's now not far off twenty years since Trevor created Biante P/L after initially buying into a postage stamp and model car retailing business, with wife Bev deciding to forfeit her real estate business in favour of the new venture.
