Hey everyone,
I was talking to someone yesterday and they said some model shop in Melbourne claimed it was the biggest in Australia. Can't remember the name of the shop, though a bloke named Pierre or similar was mentioned.
It got me wondering, what is the biggest diecast model shop in the country? We have a few fairly decent-sized ones up here in Queensland, Motorfocus, Hobbyrama to name a couple I know of.

Pier runs Model Cars of the World in Burwood, he's the only one I can think of...
I'd b e surprised if Pier from Model Cars of the World would claim to be the biggest in the country.

It is a small shop but jump onto their website and they have thousands of cars even really obsolete ones.

LOL:D
Not everything is as it appears, although I would not have said that Model Cars of the World is the biggest in Australia...
Sheriffs usually have the largest travelling shop in Adelaide. Any time there is a Motor Show or hobby fair here Jeff's tables are packed with goodies. I have not seen their shops but I could only imagine its impressive.

I would have thought the Gamesworld shops in Melbourne and Adelaide would be quite sizeable... I haven't seen either of them, but can anyone else shed some light?

I've got some great bargains from sheriffs at the Adelaide Toy and Hobby fair the last few years that's held in June , nice friendly chap too .
Can't wait to see what bargains he has this year .. :D

Damien ,
The gamesworld shops here in Adelaide are quite small in size but you can get pretty well any model you want , if it's not in stock Pat and the guy's will order it in for you and if it's an up and coming model they will take pre-orders and never fail to contact you when it's in .
Their staff are second to none and it's no trouble at all for them to go out of their way for you , I've been a regular customer for years and while I continue to get great service They will be my main source for diecast , the only time I buy elsewhere is the annual toy and Hobby fair or when someone has sales with Bargains too good to refuse or if I come accross that hard to get model that somebody has that I just have to get (sometimes you have to grab certain models while you have the opportunity).
The largest Shop , Area wise I have been to Here is Kollectable Kaos , then S.A Hobby centre and probably Model world , all great shops with good service but I think biggest isn't going to always give the best service but Browseing wise Kollectables is the best mainly because of the amount of in store stock .
Bridge model cars also has a good reputation although I haven't managed to get to their store yet as they are about an hours drive from adelaide so I can't comment on their store for size or in house stock .
Hope this info helps ,
Cheers Jim .

Gateway is a sizeable shop but yes a lot of the diecast there does have a bit of dust on it....... However Gateway is a good place to pick up some quite good bargains if you hunt around and they, like everyone are usually able to get something special if you are looking for it. Diannes models also has a good range. For those interested, Sherriffs & SA hobby centre are of a similar in size to Gateway. Most of the bigger shops that I have been to are all of a similar size, area wise and generally very helpful. There is also a small shop in Perth off the mall, unfortunately I can't remember the name that is quite good and there used to be a small shop off Flinders Lane in Melbourne?? that had some good stuff in there also.

There are many hobby shops around AUS. I wish someone can make a list of all of them, maybe the guy that keeps listing all the minicars! lol :D
