Hello all,

There seems to be abit of talk already on the threads about the Skaife win. Some say he jumped the gun 'so to speak' to get an unfair advantage over the second castrol car.

Whats everyone think?

I saw the race from start to fininsh and dont think that Skaife did anything wrong. Put simply, if he did you dont think that the opposition would be snapping at the stewards heels to do something about it?

Or is it that everyone is sick and tired of Skaife and HRT winning?

I dont know, but what ever it is you watch the posts start a mud slinging match.

Skaife won it fair and square on the restart. I posted this in the other thread but for those who didn't see it and want to know what the rules actually are (not what Channel 10 commentators think it is) here it is.

The control line - ie the point at which overtaking is permitted - at Mt Panorama is located before pit bay one directly across from the control tower. It is NOT the line just in front of grid position number one.

Given the control line is before the pit bays, he has nearly 2/3 rd the length of the pit straight in which to line up an overtaking manouvre. A legitimate one at that.

Hope this shuts up the knockers :D

Speaking of conspiricies, I think most of the Safety Car periods were just an excuse to show off the new BA Falcon.
I guess it was the only way they could get a Ford to lead the field at Bathurst!!! Ha Ha Ha

V8SS,

Nice one about the Pace Car:D

Can't wait for the Real Deal next year, though!

How's this for a conspiracy:

Did anyone notice that one of the plastic bags in the HRT car was a 'No Name' blue and white chip packet? And Ford's colours are.... Hmmmm...

You gotta wonder.

Or....

Skaife picked up the bags on the top of the mountain, in front of the Ford fans, who, being substantially inebriated (it was late in the day, remember, and they'd been drinking for 4 days!), decided a bit of revenge for the 'rock' incident was appropriate, but all they could manage were a few plastic bags ;)

Cheers (hic) ET351

With all the coverage on the plastic bags, I just hope that some IDIOT doesn't try to MAKE these incidents happen again next year by actually THROWING bags on, or in the direction of, the track.

Surely they could design some sort of angled grill or bars to go in front of the radiators within the spouiler so that any bag would be pushed downward by the force and under the car.

I too, saw the whole race on 10 & thought Skaife did nothing wrong, if fact I believe it was what gave him the race. As far as the rules go, he did nothing wrong. I though he might have got a drive through pentalty at the time as it appeared he jumped the start, but that just wasn't the case.
Perhaps the other teams need to get Fox and watch some of those Nascar races to see how to win a restart (I bet Saife does!!). Perhaps it would have been fairer if the field was made to have a double file restart, rather than the single file which we have on Aust.
I tell you what, I wish Perkins was more alert on the restart as I had $10 on him at 31/1 odds for the win.
Such is life !!!!

I hear the stuards are now considering fining 'The Murph' for his comments regarding the 5min pentality.
It's interesting that Team Brock was not also given a 5min pentality for their pit lane fuel spill.

Murph was shafted!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'd like to make mention of the fact that 00 Motorsport Lowndes/Crompton (FORD) only lasted two laps with a plastic bag on the raidiator where as the Skaife/Richards (Holden) lasted over fifteen with a number of bags and chips packets on its raidiator.

As I always say "Win on Sunday sell on Monday"

Go you Holden Boys

The Lowndes Ford overheated because it's engine is an American NASCAR heap. Now if it were an Australian 351, as in Moffat's VB carton.....
