Do you know what a Cooper JCW is on the entry list? 4 of them there, one driven by Spencer Lowndes.

Its a fully worked Mini !! .. JCW = John Cooper Works .. They are about 160kw and weigh about 900kg and they fly especially in the hands of someone like Spencer Lowndes .... On the Cethana stage at Targa - we passed an STI at about the 20km mark and then Spencer passed us at about the 25km mark and they were flying. The mini's are fully kitted out include a "fast and furious" style wing on the roof and if you want to buy one they reckon they are about 90K  !! ... I can think of a few other cars I'd spend 90K on ... but either way they are a quick little unit.

90k for a mini is a bit rich. It will be interesting to see how they go up hill in the Lake Mountain sprint.

Well we finally made it back from one of the coldest weekend I have had without going skiing. Have a heap of pics, will upload them later ok, and videos but I cant put them anywhere for you to view them. Anyone want to host them.
Those minis were soo friggin fast. One was in the top 10 which was faster than most of the Porsches, Suby's and Evos. One of the minis crashed about 100 meters into the course on the very first bend.
To see these guys go so fast with nothing but a huge drop or trees lining the road is amazing.
Brocky was running 3rd until the Skelta of Ray Vandersee broke an axle which bumped Brock to 2nd. The Daytona sounded awsome.
Anyways gotta start work now.
Cheers

Looking at the results it looked like a small field - only about 30 cars ??? .. Seems strange that a lot of the usual competitors were not there and especially so seeing it was so close to Melbourne where there are huge numbers of tarmac rally competitors ?? ... The $1600 entry fee certainly sorts a few people out and maybe it is too close to Targa ?? Maybe as Maximus said - it was just too bl**dy cold !! In that case the organisers can;t win as the Mt Buller Sprint it is too bl**dy hot !!

Hasn't that event been moved to a November date to try and avoid this ?

Yes it is being moved to November to try and avoid this .. although now the date will be very close to the Classic Adelaide date so it'll be interesting to see what sort of entries each event robs from the other ! ...

This is the first year the race has been run there so thats the reason for such a small field. I know the Mt Buller sprint numbers doubled in the second year and now they have to turn people away it has got that popular.

Many potential competitors in classic cars thought the weather would be wet, cold and the road very slippery at that place in late May. And high powered, low grip classic cars that leak are no fun in that situation. Hence many stayed away. Well, thats my excuse anyway.

Hello all and Buffalo too,

Its like the Mt Buller Sprint but the course is about 6k's long, which is alot shorter than the Buller Race. There was 8 timed stages up the mountain but there was no Prologue.
You planning bringing down some cars in November are you???

The Lake Mountain Sprint is the brain child of Melbourne businessman and competitor, Peter Washington, who created and runs the highly successful Mt Buller Sprint.
The event is made up of eight timed runs up the 10km access road from the ticket office at the base of the mountain to the ski village of Lake Mountain itself. Event headquarters is in the nearby town of Marysville, around 10kms from the start, and 90 minutes north-east of Melbourne.
