Go HOLDEN & HSV:D :D makes me want to go and buy one now......

good to see we flogged the yanks- but then their utes are more truck like unlike the Aussie Holdens and Fords- so naturally ours a lighter and faster:D :D

"Involved the local community..."

Hard to be involved from behind the razor wire, but anyway, well done to HSV.

Also bear in mind the Ram, the previous holder, had an 8 litre engine. Who says there's no substitute for cubic inches?

Yeah I read that too, sounded like they'd shoe horned the viper motor into their truck. Good to see that the country who invented the ute now rightfully hold the record for the worlds fastest one :D !!!

Imagine how fast it could go if HSV sold supercharged ones :D LOL !!!

I also wonder how long it will be until FPV try something similar with their Super Pursuit ute ???

I've never wanted a ute so much in all my life! Should have thought more before child number two! :D

But then again, a ute can't help you decide which nursing home you will go to when you get old.

Did they do any special mods to improve the performance or was it more or less straight off the line? In other words, if I buy an R8 ute will it be able to do similar???Great effort from the boys at HSV though....

Just because Holdens have been proven to be faster...............

it said in the text that it was strait off the line, the guiness world book of records said it had to be exactly like the production model

makes me want one now:(

I had a plain VU SS Ute for a while - Gen III and 6spd - and it was an absolute weapon ! ... Came pretty close to losing my licence in it !! ... The HSV ute here would be downright amazing but I reckon my licence would vaporise in front of me hence I reckon with much regret I'll leave this one to people with more right foot conservatism ! :)

Around the other way. The Viper uses the Ram engine.

Still....

The Viper engine was borrowed from the truck in the first place, so it's a useful lump to have in a ute! A great effort by HSV, but I still can't work out why a fun "spare time" endeavour by a few people, using one vehicle from a vast global range makes one huge corporation better than another huge corporation.......

Isn't that how car racing first started???

I don't think anyone notices world records anymore. Its a trivial thing. Still it does not take away from what HSV have achieved. Congratz Boyz

Yes, motor racing started so manufacturers could say "look how good we are compared to our rivals". I understand that. But unless you're directly involved with the record, or you're the proud father of someone who was, how do bragging rights apply to an individual?

Was it not a Holden/Chev product that achieved the record, not an individual?

Now that's just getting ridiculous...

So are you saying nobody is allowed to be a supporter of anything???

Heck, I always have bragging rights when Carlton beats Collingwood!

I can understand someone being pleased their team won, but to somehow attach that success to themselves has always seemed odd to me! I suppose it's because I see England football fans standing on tables and smashing rival fans over the head with chairs because their chests are puffed up with pride that someone else achieved a win (obviously I'm not talking about the recent Portugal game. That time they were standing on tables smashing rival fans over the head with chairs because they were annoyed).
