After talking to a few members (not just Wayno;) )there seems to be almost enough people who would be keen to do a race night at Redmist Racing in Narre Warren.

A Saturday night would be best & it would be good if we could try to find one that suits as many people as possible.

For those who do not know what I'm talking about

Reading about these Hypersim events triggered me to have a dig in my unit and yes I did find it.
I made it for myself, It stores in a normal cupboard lifted up with rubber feet on the back panel.
It is all welded aluminium,Aluminium plated (Very light) powdercoated and a Go cart seat, has provisions for all pedal panels and a universal dashboard plate for nearly all steering wheels.
I did have it somewhere on a display years ago.
To my amasement a boffin from Harvey Norman approached me and wanted to see how these would go in their shops as an item to sell their games etc.
So we installed one in Osborne Park shop.
They took over a 100 orders in a forthnight!
Plus they did a intershow nation wide racing competition and the Osborne park shop won, apperently due to the simulator according to the chaps that worked there (and loved it) and then the usual Harvey Norman trick was tried ,they proceeded to lay the law down on me re price, and the stock I did have to carry.
I was not intrested in it so it came to nothing.
Silly Harvey had to front the potential buyers, Hehe.
The unit went into storage intill now.
Due to the yellow colour I was thinking in adding blue with a black border to make it into a renault F1 but I do not play these games anymore , I plan to display some of my 1:1 racing bikes where this unit currently sits so anyone interested?
Here is a pic.
If so PM me.

Ok mate, I'll scrap the idea for the 14th - I've inquired about some team practice Wayno, waiting to hear ;)

So guys how about we look ahead a month or so, check our calendars & see if there is a date we can come up with ???

As far as I know, my Saturdays are fine apart from August the 19th as Wayno & I are racing together in the 3rd endurance race as a part of the enduro series - going for our 3rd straight win too  !!!

It's ok Tony, we won't be doing Kyalami & to be honest I'm not 100% sure which track we'll run yet, but Wayno & I had a bit of a talk last night over a coupe of frosty's & we've got the list down to a couple, so it will just be a surprise on the night  !!!

Tony I would strongly recommend not driving Bathurst on a 1st night ;) In fact i would recommend that you spent about 1/2 a dozen nights in the hyper before you try to tackle Australia's greatest track, that said if we get time, I' sure we might be able to go for a quick thrash around it :D LOL !!!

I think it's got to be one of the/if not the, hardest tracks to drive on the limit. That said, it's the ultimate when you come close to getting it right & one which I hope one day to put in a real flier on :D LOL !!!

That said my best lap to date is a high 2m06 :D.......

spoonster05
05-08-2006, 10:45 PM
Managed to get night off so I'm in but I'm tipping I'll be doing a Thexton and lapping very slowly at the back as it's first time doing it :D

Should be a good night providing there's no Tracey / Tagliani incidents :p

You'd be surprised that this kind of accident is the most popular kind when new drivers hit the track :D LOL !!!

There are view Left & right buttons, but they're often hard to find in amongst the other 12 buttons on the wheel LOL !!!

If anyone is interested in doing a very small amount of homework before the night check out the driver briefing (http://www.redmist.com.au/driverbriefing/index.ht ml) as there are some interesting things in there. ;) - it take about 15minutes to click through the little presentation....

Hey, i was'nt that quick, Brad was doing faster laps, just the traffic was kind to me most of the time ;)...

I know what you mean, some of the traffic was really hard to get past & others were sensational ;)

I really enjoy these type of nights as there's not the pent up anger of some of the league drivers are usually about to laugh off incidents & have a fantastic time :D !!!

I must admit, it was a little disconcerning when a back marker spun & took me out of the lead in one of the races & then proceeded to drill me from behind as I was trying to drive off - I think he'd had too much of the sponsors product - Jack Daniels :D LOL !!!!

Lmao you should do the Pro Kart enduros. Ive lapped guys only to have them drill me on the next corner, and these guys are supposed to know better, hehe.... I admit to getting very hostile then, lol.....

Yes they've got rFactor, but not had a lot fo use yet, I think a lot of it has been due to getting the game sorted out for use on all of the simulators - bit different it how it's used online.

I do know that the game we used (N2003) is on the way out but there is not a lot of mods for rFactor that I've tried, that I think are better than the one we used Saturday night.

The Porsche are very close, but it's taken a lot of testing & work with the set up to get them handling realistically (according to Steve Owen)......

There are plenty of good tracks for rFactor out there (like N2003) & also the Renault Megane's are a good one too, especially on the Gold Coast street circuit :D !!!

Brad, i think hyper had the older porsche physics, there has been a few versions, with now a new version, i think pretty much a copy of the ones in GTR. They are much better than the first few. The Porsche Cup, Megane and F3 are most popular with the karters and car drivers as far as the ones who play it from home online.....

All the Porsche variations have been updated to a 1.2 version. This happened about a week ago. With default setup i can do 2m15s around Bathurst, the AI are doing 2m13s, Richo etc with Marc Cini doing 2m22s, so i reckon its close, lol.......

Guys I'm glad we didn't try ovals.....

We tried our 2nd night of oval racing in our league last night with people who are meant to know what they are doing & it was a total disaster.....

Some of them didn't understand oval racing & were trying to pull off kamaksi moves on the very first corner instead of being patient. In a 29 lap race we had 5 green laps and the rest were yellow

Needless to say after nearly 45 minutes of following the pace car I'd had enough & went home, I couldn't stand another two races like that.....

Hey, the ovals are hard, aren't they! They're also great fun, but it's so frustrating to race with rookies on them. At the Lilydale centre, they only allow experienced A-grade drivers into the oval league because it is just so damn hard to keep the race clean. We don't even use full damage because even the a-graders screw up - often!

Sounds like you all had a wow of a time the other week. I just hope I can make the next Biante Hyper date :)

Well considering the race is 200 laps long & a yellow period lasts for about 4 laps, the enduro will really be about 25 one lap races with 15 minutes of yellow (spare) time between each one of them, give or take a few

I know it's been tested in N2003 & not been very successful, that said I'm told it works rather well in rFactor, but not personally tried it. Granted I think it would help. but that said, some people do need to learn that you don't win an oval race in the 1st or 2nd corner

I thinking the samething, either that or they ran out of $$$ to get it going as their site has not changed for well over 12 months.....

Other than rFactor, there is iRacing (http://www.iracing.com/) which is coming but little has been said of this - it's being made by the group that made the Nascar series from Papyrus

cheers,
