I have just found an old copy of "Modern Motor"june/1979 when the NEW XD FALCON and the NEW VB COMMODORE were released
it has all the road tests and techinical details on each car....guess who wins...FORD.This book also has all details of the around Australia Repco Reliability Trial 1979. holden vrs FORDwith Peter Brock..Colin Bond..George Fury plus many more well known drivers.(UP ROAR ..PETROL MAY GO UP TP 35c A LITRE)I THINK THERE SHOULD BE A SECTION ON THIS SITE WITH "OLD' SNIPPERTS FROM THE PAST..WHAT DO YOU THINK? I have alot of old books that some of the "NEW' lads may be interested in..it could be called..."THE WAY IT WAS" Thanks Jamie

Just for interest and ideas.......these websites (below) have forums just like this one. They are just arranged a little bit differently.
Don't take any notice of the content, just how the forum can be arranged into several catagories of interest.
This type of arrangement could be useful at a later date, if the Biante forum admin feels the need.

I didn't mean that Biante had to start a new section..but there a lot of young NEW car followers out there and having a "TRIVIA" section to show how the Holden's & Fords competed before they were born...some of us OLD BLOKES have stories to tell..plus info
on how the cars of today got to where they are today. As i posted in my first letter..Repco Trial..some of these young people may never have heard of it?I have a video of the 1954 "REDEX TRIAL"
CARS LIKE CUSTOMLINES/FJ'S/VANGUARDS/VW'S and many more
driving around Australia..nearly all on dirt roads.
Anyway it's only an idea...maybe it's worth looking at.

As for as the"REDEX" trial goes i remember when my father would go to the Cairns showgrounds and meet these cars and put new tyres on them when they arrived..he was the rep. for OLYMPIC TYRES in those days(later BEAUREPAIRS). I met all the drivers including Gelignite Jack Murry and Jack Davies(Chrysler Royle?)
who was Australia's early John Laws..the most popular person in Aust.(we only had radio then) I have photos somewhere of all this. JAMIE
