Am just sitting here waiting for the A9X to arrive and i was wondering why Jim Richards hasnt signed the cert. After all he was there and did drive the thing aswell. Can anyone shed some light??

Probably because he wasn't paid a fee like Brocky was...

But does he get paid for having his name on the car?

I don't see why he needs to get paid for his name on the side of the car. It's not a registered trademark or anything is it?

I don't know unless he's trademarked his name...

Its funny how Richards rarely gets a mention with this car. Everyone calls it the "Brocky Torana".

Sholud it be equal billing to all brock's co-drivers if that's the case?? I dont have a problem with that. Remember they helped win these races too.

i think everyone goes by the most popular driver eg A Brocky Torana, or a Dick Johnson Falcon- on all of the other cars the lesser nown driver doesn't sign the cert

Richards is deffently not a lesser known driver- maybe Biante could put both drivers on the cert, i'm sure we all would pay a bit extra for another signature

either that or track Jimmy down and get him to sign your COA and make it a bit of a standout compared to the other 11,000.

Not necessarily.

I don't really care if there is a signature or not. I collect diecast cars, not permanent marker squiggles that add to the cost.

He does however own the copyright in his name in this regard though ;)

I was fortunate enough to get Jim's signature on my 1978 Brock Bathurst winner COA and the HRT 2001 Bathurst Winner COA at last year's Oran Park V8 meeting, he's quite approachable and willing to have a chat.

He definitely made a huge contribution to their final result

Jim Richards is not called gentleman Jim for nothing. I met him at Clipsal a couple of years ago. An absolute gentleman. I will definately be getting his moniker on my COA's. He is the second highest Bathurst winner after all.

Yeah, not a bad driver ol Jim.

Is there anything in Aus worth winning that he hasn't won yet?

Seeing as PB was pretty well off the pace at Sandown, maybe Plato saved him some embarrassment at Bathurst??

I had to pay double off e-bay for my '78 torana, but at least it came with Jims signature as well.
I think it would be good to see his signature. He is an awesome tarmac rally driver and i have a lot of respect for him.
Cheers:)

Hi again to all,

I like many others tracked down Gentleman Jim at Barbagallo last year and he gladly signed the certificate for the 78 winner .

It was a pleasure to have met Jim ,

and it is a case of like father like son,
