Try some turps, kero, pure alcohol, or acetone (nail-polish remover) on cotton wool balls.

I wouldn't use acetone or Nail-Polish remover as it will make the plastic go cloudy. I would use Eucalyptus oil.
Hope this helps.

Use eucalyptus oil or car polish...ONLY.
Otherwise you will be able to check out the colour of Zamak!!

Excuse my ignorance, but....

I've bought some eucalyptus oil (to remove 'glue' marks from the models; the Bullitt 390 GT seems the worst affected), but was wondering how to apply it.

Any suggestions please?

Thanks, ET351

There's another product out which works just as well, it's a citrus based "goo" remover found in the cleaning aisle of any supermarket.

I don't recall the name off hand but it comes in a small bottle.

You only need a drop of this on the glue residue, leave it for about 15 seconds or so and it wipes off, also works well for CD cases to....

Sorry XU, I didn't realize you were talking about clear plastic. I've used the solutions I mentioned on virtually everything bar the clear stuff.

Probably a cloth used for gleaning glasses or camera lenses would be the best, these are very delicate.

I use Mr Sheen polish to remove anything sticky, like the gunk left behind by the clear disc stickers used to keep the boot lid from lifting on models. Just spray a bit onto a tissue and rub the goo off.

The best thing I found to get rid of the sticky gum was a potion called "De-Solv-it".
It cleaned the clear plastic cases easily where the eucalyptus oil created a bigger mess.
