before i say anything i am not complaining, or picking on Biante. i was cleaning my car cabinet yesterday and i was looking at the red roo falcon and i noticed it has the wrong front spoiler. the red roo had a bar across the center of the intake. this was removed in 83.

That one got past me !! You are indeed correct...There's a photo on page 231 of Aust Motor Racing Yearbook #12 (1982), which shows the bar dividing the opening of the main intake in the front airdam. Also on the prior page, 230, there's a photo of the Bob Morris "Seiko" XE which has exactly the same front airdam. So safe to assume that the 'crossbar' was deleted for 1983. It would not be very difficult to instal the correct piece, just have to match the correct RED to paint it...On my 'Stuff to Do' list !!

I have backdated my 83/84 Spec airdam to 82 Specs. Took about 10 minutes not counting time for paint to dry. Not a problem really.....

I can remember when the XE was being raced they had lots of trouble with engines overheating, caused by the newer shape, with the smaller grill and curved bonnet. Maybe this is why the cross piece was removed.
I can remember Steve Masterton, in the Masterton homes Falcon, getting pinged for actually cutting out a bit of the front bumper bar and having a hinge on top of it so it opened up at speed and let more air through the radiator! The scrutineers didn't find it, and the only reason anyone noticed was because although the bumper was black, it had a big white "MOTORCRAFT" sign on it. Someone took a pic of him on the straight and you could see the letters weren't lining up any more!
Just a useless bit of trivia really....

Very interesting nonetheless! It's part of the resourcefulness (aka cheating, I suppose) in trying to get that extra bit of performance or reliability. I now expect Biante's model to have a 1:18 bit of bumper bar cut out, with working hinges.....
