I know this has been mentioned before on here but is there much interest in dedicated classic race car collections for Moffat, Brock, Bond, Johnson Etc in 1:43. I ask this because the Brock Targa Monaro is coming up and my retailer says it is looking like being quite popular. I have also seen a few code 3 Moffat cars made from Biante XY models for sale on www.sold.com.au.
Judging by the price difference between 1:18 road and race ($130 for road, $168 for race) I assume they haven't been done because the prices would probably be pushed up.
I don't know about minimun runs, liscence fees and tooling costs etc or the final price but I am having a rough guess that if they could be sold at around $60.00 people would buy them. What price would other people think?
I keep doing this to myself. Just getting the habit under control then I think up something else I just can't do without. HELP!.

As a collector of the DJR Collection, I for one hope that the Dick Johnson Collection is not made in any other scale other than 1:18. My reasons are very selfish, as for all of the money I have outlayed for these cars, it would a big disapointment as my whole collection would lose a vast amount of its' value. If people can get these models in 1:43 scale, why would they pay the extra for the larger and better detailed 1:18 scale ?
I must admint that after buying the Brock Monaro in 1:18 & then finding out it was comming in 1:43 scale I was rather disapointed. As I would have saved my money and bought the 1:43 if I knew about it earlier, but as it was a part of the Brock Collection, I though "better get this one as it will only come in this scale"
how silly do you think I feel now !!!!!

I probably shouldn't comment as I only collect 1/43, but to me the separate scales stand alone & have their own values. I have ONE 1/24 model, a Mini Cooper my wife gave me which has it's own value as such. When it comes right down to it, I don't collect any model for their real or perceived monetary value, but purely for the pleasure they give me.

People have different approaches to model collecting, and there will always be a market for anything no matter what scale.
I'm not attracted to the new 1:64 scale but haven't they taken off. Let's face it - if you could get 1:18 at a 1:64 price, wouldn't that be heaven ?
Like others, I fell into the must have this, that, and the next.
Ultimately, I looked at my credit card statements and realised I've got to control my 1:18 spending. That's the scale I like because of the quality offered by Biante's products, but I've got to stop acting like the last of the big spenders; it's a totally selfish indulgence that could border on obsession.
My first test is to ignore the VR Brock car released today, as my focus for some time has been the Moffat Twin Set. So what, if Biante can do Brock's 1995 VR, maybe they'll get around to his last HRT car, the 1997 VS ....that would be nice !
Spend what you can comfortably, and only buy what you really like. Carry on collecting, but don't let it rule your life.
