Good luck to the buyer (and the seller :D ), but I don't see how it's worth that.

That's really tragic. For another 10K, the buyer could have had an E60 M5...

Wonder if the current monaro's will go up in value in the years to come..........

I think I heard a little while ago that an XY GTHO Phase III sold for something like $400k. And I'll tell you something else, if I had the choice between a classic Aussie muscle car or some Bimmer that every wanna-be yuppie and his dog owns, I know what I'd choose...

I think in years to come the first released of the new shape will go up in value, not the V8 ones but the V6 ones. I doubt they would have made too many of these at all, i think they were only in production for 12 months (feel free to correct me if I'm wrong).
So you'd prefer the M5 szwadiak100 ;) I don't think you could be called a wanna-be yuppie. Not every man and his dog has that kind of money to spend on a car. But i do agree with you I'd prefer the classic aussie muscle car as well, especially if its an E38 or E49 Charger.

The Monaro CV6 probably be more collectable due to a lower amount made, but i reckon the CV8, CV8-R CV8Z's will still be pretty collectable as well because they were more powerfull

Perhaps that is true for the 320i, but I think that you will find that the M5s are a little more harder to come by than that.

What amused me was our local radio referring to the "bright yellow" Monaro. Being a '68, it would've been "Warwick Yellow" yes? Nice colour, one of my favourites, but hardly "bright".
The report also mentioned that it was a "One Owner" which would've added to it's value?

I have a cousin who own an original 327 HK with 4speed & low milage, silver mink in colour.
It hasn't seen the road in 20 years
Also a number of FX, FJ Statesmans & 27 Chev Truck

Fair enough, I guess I'm just not that much of a fan of new cars. I see your point though.

IIRC before the Monaro went into production there was a report that of the 2000 deposits that dealers were holding for the Monaro, 1 was for a CV6. Thats a pretty unpopular car. Going by what has happened in the Muscle car market in the last couple of years it is the hi-po versions that sell for the most money and have the most interest generated. I'd say the CV6 may hold interest for someone as a rarety but the major money would be on the CV8s. Just think, anyone who owns one now just needs to wait about 25 years for the value to go up. ;)

...and not drive it between now and then...
Early model CV8's have probably depreciated from $60k-odd to sub-$30k already. I would think they have a lot further to fall before they start to go up again.

I'm reminded of 2 VN Group A SS Comodores that sold a couple of years ago. One had 150km on the clock and the other only 90km. Essentially brand new condition cars but about 15 years old. They sold for about $20k under what their new price was 15 years before (allow for inflation as well). Modern Aussie cars do not seem to be well sought after items at the moment. When they become rarer and significantly older, this may change.

The VN Group A is a sleeper at the moment. I think this car isn't far off starting to rise in value (if it hasn't started already).

I agree. I missed out on a very low mileage and priced one about 5 or 6 years ago. Was on the way with a deposit and someone beat me to it by an hour! Still spewin about it and will be more so in 5/10+ years time when they will be worth a lot more!

The difference here is this particular Monaro is appreciating in value, that definately could not be said for the Bimmer!!!

Working hard on this part, must have 15km on the clock of the CV8 now!!!!

I say drive it enjoy it and to heck with what it might be worth.
In regards to the HK and the E38 i think people have gone mad.

A few months ago, i bought my dream car, VL SS Group A Walkinshaw SV. When i bought it i said i would try to keep the kays down as it only had 61,000 on clock (one owner 68yo). But now i think, stuff it, i love drivin it and i will continue to rack up kays on it.
A mate bought a VN SS Group A with 180,000 on clock for $14,000. about 3 years back now its been re-sprayed and looks a million.
Still reckon my Walkie is betta:D ;)

When I think about which car she's talking about, I can't see it losing any of it's value, in fact I'm surprised that vehicle has gone so far, all things considered :D

You've got plenty of toys to keep them all "low mileage";)
That one should end up in a museum along with your #2 Humpy;)
The HK Munroe was definately worth the peanuts!

Who's Orange Charger was it?
Hello Richard
in answer to your question
I am quoting from an article that by memory was featured in the West Australian regarding the up and coming Shannons Sydney motor show auction this acticle centred mainly on the monaro and then went on to mention the charger and some of its history eg winner of best engine bay at numerous events on the east coast and previous and present owners etc.
if this information is not correct please let us know.

If I could have expected that kind of life span out of my EL XR6 i wouldn't have sold it with a "mere" 200,000 on the clock. One of the best cars I've owned without a doubt.
