Just found this (http://www.biante.com.au/product_18229.htm)...but it is awfully difficult to find as it is completely unsearchable! Likewise, why is it "Sold Out"?
Will a 1:43 be produced? I will be mightiliy dissapointed if it is not!

Leigh and others,
Don't panic ... we do plan to do Rick Kelly's 2006 V8 Supercar Champion car in all three scales, as raced at Phillip Island. This will be Biante's swansong model in relation to our involvement with the current V8 Supercar Championship Series ... and it will replace the previously scheduled 2006 Bathurst models.
The website product listings have been temporarily disabled pending an 'official' announcement to the Biante retail stockists.

From what was said before back around Bathurst time, Biante wanted to do the cars however HRT wasn't so interested.

We will endeavour to have the models produced early in 2007, but with Chinese New Year interruptions, we cannot give a precise release date yet - best guess at the present time would be sometime post-April 2007.

Interesting that you guys would have prefered the Bathurst car to championship car. Going by the order quantities we received from stores for the Bathurst model there aren't that many of you out there (either that or nobody told their store that they wanted the bathurst edition). I'd prefer the Bathurst model as well but all the focus now is on the champion edition.

Top of my head with the photo's being at work we have the following differences
event logo
bonnet
rear window
rear wing end plates
C-pillar
behind the rear wheels
Pirtek on nose
Biante logo
Orix on the rear bumper
HSV behind front wheels
clubsport GTS senator on rear of boot lid
side skirts
no fuel fillers
Enough to be different from the Clipsal version
Bathurst had the E-series vents on the sides and a different bonnet design which would have looked good.

It was listed on the site and people added it to their watchlist. Not many people, but some did. That's how we judge interest on the site. I don't know if shops order by the interest they expect or actually ask their customers if they would like to order. Either way we didn't get the orders we expected so we had to move on to the champion edition. If you want this one then TELL your retailer now so that they know to order it.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but I have a feeling that the only time Rick ran them was during the dieing minutes of qualifying.....
Interesting to note that from the HRT & HSVDT group that it was Mark and Garth that were running with them while the Kelly brothers stuck with the traditional 5 spoke
Richard Poole

I think you're right Brad. Mark ran them right through the weekend but Rick only tried his new shoes on on Friday.
Speaking to a few crew members they weren't really impressed as the gap between the spokes is too small to get your fingers in there in a hurry, especially with gloves on. The new wheels do have more room inside and the brakes and hubs can be mounted differently so there is a possible advantage there.

Glad to hear that as I wondered how the new wheels would be for the poor guy changing them. In races where the stop is not limited by fuel flow to the car I really wonder if any advantage they give would be worth the risk of a botched pit stop.

Richard,
You should probably be aware that most shops I've dealt with order by drawing straws, or worse throwing darts at pieces of paper with numbers on them...if this is the way models get chosen, then it is a disgrace!
I think what we all might have to do is order these things from multiple shops to boost the numbers;):p It will work for a few models, then we have to come up with a new method!

There's actually a fair few subtle changes between the look of the Round 1
and Round 13 cars:
Round Sponsor over number
Number now all on door (not half on door half on gaurd)
No Biante on side skirts
Kenworth (now on side skirt) swaps with McMillian
McMillian (now on side of bar) swaps with Kenworth
PPG on side of rear bar
Orix logo all white
Pirtek logo white with black keyline
TW logo on C-pillar
Yellow ribbon on C-pillar
Small HSV logo below ROH on gaurd
Different logo on wing end plate
HSV E Series on bonnet
Clubsport GTS Senator Signature across the decor panel

Most model car retailers are the most negative bunch of people I've ever met! They are always wrongly predicting what will and will not be popular! Don't listen to them Richard...I often wonder whether the best model car business model in Australia is Trax's...they seem to be able to sell out of everything in under 2 years, whereas Biante and Classics stock can sit on shelves and in warehouses for much longer:eek:

The little response from the retailer for all these toll HSV and HRT must mean that these teams are as popular as they used to be. I guess we wont even see them next year as they will be even less popular now. Due to their antics on the weekend. I for 1 would only buy kelly car just to have a wreck in my garage scene.

Here's a message that I recently posted on another thread " Kelly/Kelly Bathurst Car " :
Toll HSV Dealer Team - 2006 series model cars
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
We have let this one out to our stockist network to help determine the potential popularity of both the Bathurst #15 car and the Championship (Phillip Island) #15 car.
We'd like to make both in 1:18 scale, but with HSVs blessing we'll wait and see what the order books have to say. I understand that the weight of opinion amongst parties of interest, for one car versus the other, leans more toward the Championship car.
There are 1:43 scale versions to consider too.
I might also mention that the proposed 1:64 scale Twin Pack is intended to consist of the #15 Kelly and #16 Tander cars, as they raced at the Phillip Island finale.
So collectors .... go hound a stockist and have your say as to which of the above Toll HSV Dealer Team cars takes your fancy.

I used to get the Commodore serviced at the Holden/HSV dealer not 5 minutes from your place:p
Granted, their model car ordering was not "optimum";)

You wouldn't be able to get one from Robina Holden anyway, the dealership has just sold (new owneres take over at the end of the month) and the shop is not getting anything new in untill it clears old stock

The closed the Pacific Fair shop last year and moved all the stock to Robina, I don't think they got any 2006 models last year and didn't get any HRT merchendise until the last half of the year, I told the Logan store and they didn't believe me.

I've just noticed too that both cars are now being made. Bathurst and the C/Ship. Good news, because before i thought it was going to go down to a vote as to which car was favoured more, or is that still happening?

Yeah but who would want to own a "Lnowdes" car? It looked horrible.
I kinda knew he was not going to win the series after they showed the livery the week before PI. No car that ugly could win the series and be used in all the photos of him doing the celebration burn outs, etc.

Hi Wayne, great shot . how come your photo came out so clear ,all mine from Phillip Island are C#*p from all the smoke.:D P.S. It was good to meet you at the Clipsal dinner,i'm still recovering from that weekend:dizzy2: :D

It was really a matter of timing as there were gaps in the smoke down towards the water where it was windier if you kept an eye on it. Also spending the price of a second hand small car on lenses helps! :D

Should go nicely with the Jason Richards 'Indy' edition with the silver paint on the rear bumper and a big dent too!:p
